Overall, very disappointed with my experience here. First of all, the food tasted OK but not delicious...and I was hungry but let me just say that the portions were not hearty...this was true of every one in our party. Secondly, the service was poor. By this, I mean we had a long wait to order, an even longer wait for our food, and we never received bread with our meal (even after asking). This was my first time here but I would not come back based on this experience.

I have lived in the Mechanicsville area for around five years now and never knew about this little gem tucked away across from Lee Davis High School. My hair dresser recommend this place for some great Italian. Me and my friend went last Friday night and had one of the best experience in a restaurant in a long time. We were greeted at our table by Jon who turned out to be our server, who was excellent by the way. We started of with some calamari to start and we could tell that it had just been breaded, not that pre-breaded stuff like other restaurants. I had the the Chicken Picatta for dinner and my friend had the Penne Chicken ala Gina. I choose a salad with mine, which was the freshest I had ever seen. and my friend choose the homemade Italian Wedding Soup. We were gonna go for a cannoli after dinner but their bread did us in. I don't know any one would not like this place but it is our new Friday night spot. If you choose to take my recommendation and go ask for Jon...It's like family taking care of you. I never had to ask for anything.

Me and my family at the Italian Kitchen last night, and it was by far the most outstanding Italian Food I have ever had. The portions we great and the price even better. I can tell that their food is prepared to order and doesn't taste like something out of a can. I was very impressed that they make their own bread, I could of eaten 3 or four baskets. The server was also excellent, her name was Rosie. I would defiantly recommend this place and will be back with friends. Thank you Italian Kitchen for showing those chain restaurants what real food taste like.

This is our favorite restaurant! Give it a try and don't listen to negative people. Many people don't know authentic Italian food even if it slapped them in the face!

I can't believe someone would even rate this restaurant one star! This is the oldest restaurant in Mechanicsville and many loyal customers have been eating here for over 50 years. The food is authentic and delicious. I have never once been disappointed. The worst part about the previous rating is that they speak nothing of the service most likely because it is exceptional. The service is fast and friendly! I am outraged by the previous review and want everyone to know that it is not valid at all! My family has been eating here for years and we will continue to patron this wonderful Italian Restaurant!

WE HAD OUR SON'S WEDDING RECEPTION AND IT WAS AWESOME AND AFFORDABLE. EVERYWHERE ELSE WE HAD TO PAY ALL TYPES OF FEES UPFRONT BUT NOT AT ITALIAN KITCHEN. THE FOOD AND SERVICE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN BETTER. IT WAS SUCH A HAPPY AND EXCITING OCCASION FOR ALL OF US AND YOU ALL MADE IT EVEN MORE SPECIAL THANKS AGAIN!!

First time was the last time for me. Very disappointing house salad, classic combo was unidentifiable under a mound of cheese. Kids preferred my spaghetti from a box to theirs. Still looking for my mylanta.....

My husband and I have been to this restaurant a few times since we live fairly close. I will never go back. The last two times we have been it has taken well over an hour to get our food and the food tasted like it had been sitting back in the kitchen the whole time. The last time my parents were visiting out of town and we decided to try it again. Again, we waited quite a while to get our food, the waitress forgot to bring something and the food was not very good.

It's a family restaurant with great food and has been in the community for years it deserves to at least be tried once. You would be a mechanisvillian with out eating at this fine establisment.
