Save your money and buy a box of Ortega "make it yourself" taco kit. This is a pitiful represention of "mexican" food! There are FAR better places!

I believe the poor rating previously given was for the wrong Jalapenos. The Jalapenos on University is a family owned restaurant that we enjoy tremendously and they do not give free ice cream. There is however a Jalapeno Tree in McKinney which is a chain restaurant that does serve free ice cream. I have never had a problem with presentation, seasonings, or anything else at Jalapenos. I highly recommend the shrimp jalapeno. I believe the Jalepenos' referred to in the other review is actually the Jalapeno Tree.

My husband and I have tried Jalapenos several times since live very nearby. The quality of food and service has ranged from good to poor. Twice, they were training new staff and we waited a long time for food that was just "okay".

The food borders on bland (no spice) and the presentation is very boring, no garnishes, no attention to detail. However, they do have a great kids menu that is good value, and free ice cream so this is probably a good place for a family with kids.
