My 1 and 2 year old have been attending DLC for almost a year and I have never seen them more excited to go to daycare. As a working single mom my boys have been in daycare since they were 6 weeks old, and I have never found a daycare that they enjoyed as much as they do here. I feel like my children are safe and cared for at this facility. The owner (I believe she is the owner) and her husband are very attenuative to the parents each time they come in the doors. Thank you DLC for all that you have done for my boys.

I'm breastfeeding, so I'm at DLC every three hours, every day of the week.

I’m able to observe my son’s teachers and I have seen the other classrooms, as well.

I talk with my son’s teachers at length and they are very invested in the care of my son - it’s like co-parenting with them and they are truly amazing. Whenever we have a developmental issue, they are on my team, ready to help us work through the problem.

Again, I’m there several times a day, so I see quite a bit more than the average parent.

I truly love this daycare center and staff. The directors and staff care very much about the children enrolled at the daycare.

The directors are very nice, attentive, and are seriously super sweet. Any issues I've had, they’ve addressed them immediately. It's all about communication, and a willingness to work through the problem.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions about this daycare, I'd be happy to answer any questions about my experience. Thank you!

My older son is 3 1/2 years old. He has been going to Discovery for almost 3 years. I was going to start him there @ 6 weeks but just couldn't let him go to strangers even though my office manager's daughter had gone there for years and another co-worker used to work there and her daughters have gone there since birth. So, my mom kept him. Then he started DLC at 9 months. I could not be happier with Discovery Learning Center. They don't just baby sit the kids all day. They ARE actually learning. He amazes daily with the things that come out of his mouth. From songs he sings to words he spells. 3 years old... he spells his name and is learning to write it. I have loved every teacher he has had. I now have a 3 month old and I almost feel guilty for being so quick to drop him off and leave him on his first day, at the age of 7 weeks. But, that is how comfortable I am with the girls that are keeping him. Of course I missed him but I knew he was in good hands. Not to mention his "teacher" is the mother of my other son's best buddy. I don't feel like Discovery is just a company that I pay to watch my kids. They feel like family to me, part of my village helping to raise them.

When my granddaughter came to live with me, she immediately started with DLC in the infant room. She is now in the 1st grade and participates in the after-school program. Over the years, I could have moved closer to my work; however, in the end, I refused to change her childcare provider. When my 2nd granddaughter was born, this is the only childcare facility I would consider to take care of her too. No matter what our needs have been through the years, the staff and management have gone out of their way to help. Along with excellent care, this facility provides a positive and educational environment for all children to thrive. They take care of all of the children as if they're they own and they're always professional, friendly and extremely helpful. I highly recommend DLC as the best place to take your precious children.

My family and I have been in the area for a little over a year now. We moved from California and before we moved to Texas we had our children going to a family friend in home daycare, b/c I didn’t trust just anyone watching my children. So I was a little skeptical about my children going to a daycare out here in Texas. But before my husband and I made up our mind about our children going to a daycare out here, I went to go and visit Discovery before we made our decision. And when I got there the staff was just so WONDERFUL. They gave me a tour of the classrooms my children will be in, and how the program worked. They made me feel so welcomes and that’s what we needed for our children. My Children learned so much from Discovery, and is still learning from them. I would recommend anyone to take their children to discovery leaning center. The hours are GREAT open at 6:30 AM and close at 6:00 PM, and the expense is not bad at all.

I don't know where "Jane689" gets her information, but I am a former prosecutor whose primary responsibility was the prosecution of CPS offenses. My kids have been going to Discovery Learning Center for upwards of 7 1/2 years. We investigated the best daycare centers in McKinney, settled on Discovery, and we have had nothing but good experiences with the owners, the managers, and the staff at Discovery. As to a CPS investigation, anyone can make a wild accusation that CPS must respond to (which is what I am certain this was) and that can technically be classified an "investigation." However, in my experience in this area, unfounded accusations made against a daycare center are usually made by a parent or caretaker who was reported to CPS themselves, who probably put the marks and bruises on the child in the first place, and are trying to cover their own abuses and lack of supervision by trying to make it look like it was someone else (i.e., the daycare center) that was at fault for injuring the child rather than themselves. Finally, in a situation as important as this (an allegation of child abuse), it is curious that "B" doesn't have the resolve to list her name so that CPS officials can contact her to determine the veracity of her accusations. Nevertheless, you can be sure that her attorney will mention this "investigation" (probably prompted by his client) as evidence that his client didn't abuse her children. Signed, Jerry McClain

As the owner of Discovery Learning Center (DLC), I would like to address the these comments. The allegations are absolutely not true and can be checked on the state child care licensing agency web site. These comments appeared shortly after DLC was forced to report a certain parent to Child Proctective Services (CPS) after that parent brought their children to DLC one morning with bite marks and bruises. CPS initiated an investigation into the welfare of those children. The parent was not happy with DLC for reporting the incident. Although we do have new staff members from time to time, the vast majority have been with DLC for many years. New staff members are required to work under the direction of experienced staff until such time as they are adequately trained to conduct classes by themselves. Each room has more than one staff member present at all times except when class size is very small such as early morning or late afternoon. Student/teacher ratios are always maintained at state required levels or better. Everyone is always welcome at any time to visit and observe the classes. All rooms are visible from the hallways through large windows. Patricia Bass
