Dr. Richard E. Rattay is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a second board certification in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity, currently providing state-of-the-art orthopaedic care at Mason City Clinic. Dr. Rattay earned a Bachelors degree in Chemistry with honors from the University of Iowa, and completed graduate studies in Physical Chemistry at the Iowa State University Graduate College, before deciding to receive his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. After graduating, Dr. Rattay completed an internship in General Surgery at Indiana University and residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. To further his training, Dr. Rattay also completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the University of Minnesota, which included microvascular training at the Mayo Clinic. Actively involved in the medical community, Dr. Rattay has contributed to several publications and presentations, and has served as moderator at national conferences. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
