The Special Education Program of Mankato Area Public Schools serves developmentally disabled children up to the age of 7. The program offers child care, referral and disability screening services. It offers assistance with the development of intellectual, emotional and social skills. The Special Education Program also provides services for health assessment and development evaluation. The program offers speech, physical and occupational therapies. In addition, it provides crisis intervention programs that specialize in the areas of hearing, seeing, talking, playing, behavior, moving and critical thinking. The program is accredited by the Special Education Advisory Council. It is operated from the North Mankato, Minn.
