My experience was not great.

I bid on, won and paid for the car. When I came back on Tuesday to pick it up, it sounded like there was no exhaust system at all.

It turned out that while the car sat in their yard, someone stole the catalytic converter and emission control system sensors.

I called to complain; they said there was nothing they could do. I filed a police report. I wrote a letter. I contacted my insurance company.

Eventually Capital Auto agreed to buy back the car, but by then I had already started work on the repairs. Finally Capital Auto agreed to pay for ½ my loss. I do give them credit for that; technically they didn’t have to re reimburse me anything, as nearly all cars are sold absolutely “as is”.

If you are a dealer, maybe you can make the Capital Auto Auction system work for you. As an individual buying just one or two cars, my advice is stay away.
