I was very concerned about a palm I had and searched for someone. Phillip Hughes, the "Tree Doctor" looked great and came over. He sounded very knowledgeable and for $60 he told me I had insects and all 4 palms needed treated, not just the one. He wanted $400 each and strongly recommended quarterly treatment at $300/qtr. I called another company and the 35 year experience person with a degree from A&M in trees said the palm was fine, that the damage I was concerned about was likely caused by a sprinkler hitting the base of the tree (common problem) and insects were not the issue. He said I did not need to do anything and that palms only needed fertilized every 2 years, not quarterly.
