I managed to get my van into Hansen's after a long trip back from Boulder, CO, and i'm SO glad it's there! I had trouble starting it in Boulder and a dealer put in a new starter, but on the way back to Madison it kept stalling out, and sometimes not restarting. After a LONG trip back to Maidson I dropped it off in the lot on Memorial Day weekend, with no appointment. They took the time to repeatedly start it until it performed all it's symptoms, and much to my relief i'm on the way to having it reliable again.



I've been taking my cars to Hansen's since needing an engine rebuilt about 10 years ago, and I can't possibly say enough about the expertise, professionalism, kindness and generosity of the folks at Hansen's Auto. They've taken such good care of me that I would never consider going to another mechanic. For everything from oil changes to major engine work, they have not only done the best for my car, but also for me.



They've carefully explained the work, and have been so patient with my lack of understanding of cars. They've often been able to tell me what to do and save an expensive repair or tow, and they've averted many larger problems for me by helping me to look ahead and take care of things before they need major work. Every time I or my daughter has needed to buy a car they've helped us generously with advice.



These folks know cars inside and out and they're also some of the kindest and most honorable business people you will ever be lucky enough to meet!

Extremely honest and reputable, I've been going there for years and tell people that I

highly recommend Jon and his entire team. Just today 5/14/13 I had a speed control

sensor go belly up. They were booked solid for the day, but Jon managed to squeeze

me in. Just another example of "OutStanding" SERVICE!

My family has been doing business with Hansen's for 40 plus years. My parents have trusted them with all of their cars, my brother and I both take our vehicles to Hansen's and now my daughter takes her car there as well. I highly recommend Hansen's Auto for honest and high quality service. I recently traded in my '99 Taurus at over 140,000. During the past two years, while debating the purchase of a different car, I depended on Joe and the mechanics to let me know what repairs were essential for safety. There were a list of repairs that were possible, but they always gave me their honest assessment of what was critical. When I did have the car repaired, Joe explained the repair in a way I could understand.



After purchasing a different car, I had Hansen's inspect it and was given a list of concerns. Again, Joe took time to explain them all to me and encouraged me to speak with the dealers. Dealing with car issues isn't top on my list of favorite things to do and I'm really grateful to have mechanics I can trust, are patient and willing to explain repairs, and that treat me with respect. I was initially very stressed out about my car troubles, but from the second I called Hansen's to schedule an appointment, the staff did everything in their power to accommodate me. Once arriving at Hansen's, the technicians were very patient and understanding. Joe even spoke to my brother (twice) on the phone to explain what the problem seemed to be and the steps that they were about to take. The price for the repairs was very reasonable, and ended up being less than what they expected it to be.



They all went above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely go there for any future work that I need done, and I will be sure to tell my friends and family about the excellent experience I had there.

Awesome service. Honest. I have been taking my vehicles to Hansens for over 20 years and they have never let me down. I have recomended them to litteraly dozens of friends and coworkers who have always been satisfied.



I bought a new car in 2001 and have taken it to Hansens for sevice, repairs, tires, everything. I has over 210,000 miles on it now and is still going strong thanks to Hansens.

My wife and I were having our first ever car issue and didn't know who to go to. When your in a town by yourselves and don't know who you can trust it makes it tough to find the right deal. Called around to other locations and everyone I talked to was 100$+ over what was quoted at Hansen's and they didn't give me any type of reassurance as to what I could expect besides the fact that their price was the "best case scenario" I called Hansen's and got Joe on the phone, he spent some time helping me through the situation and really helped me to understand what was needed. When dropping off the car I got to meet the owner and his wife and they even took the next step and made me and my wife feel even better about leaving our vehicle with them. In the end the price was better than expected and the job was perfection. If you are going anywhere else you are GETTING RIPPED OFF.

I am a college student, and when my car broke down, it was towed to Hansen's.

WOW, what a great place! Everyone was so nice and helpful, and the work done to my car was awesome!.

I was worried but, they sure helped me out and reassured me that everything would be ok.

I've had bad luck with several auto repair places around town. One's that recommend unnecessary repairs. John Hansen has really earned my trust over the years. Give them a try. They are fair and honest.

I first heard about Hansen's Auto Repair in my previous work life, as a sales rep for an engine and transmission company. Hansen's was a customer of mine and, in dealing with them, I got to know their business, just as I got to know other auto shops in southwestern Wisconsin.



Hansen's Auto Repair is the one I chose to send my cars to personally because I knew exactly how they dealt with people. I knew that they had a great deal of integrity in establishing what their customers' needs are and servicing those needs fully.



Building trust with a client is so important, and Hansen's can be trusted implicitly. They tell me what needs to be done with my vehicle and they offer different options for me to consider. I appreciate that they always let me know before they do any repairs, so there are no surprises when the work is completed.



Hansen's has worked on all of my vehicles, from my FORD F-150 pick-up to my BMW, which was a complicated foreign repair. They have serviced them both very well.



You can count on Hansen's to get it right. Everything is done properly the first time. They are priced fairly as well and, from a value standpoint, they cannot be touched.

I have been using Hansen's Auto Repair for 43 years now because of their high-quality work. They never make mistakes, their rates are reasonable, and they are easy to work with and to schedule appointments with.

Hansen's is considered Madison's leading independent garage. I have been way more than satisfied with the work they have done for me over the years.

One year, when I called them on Christmas Eve, Don came out to my home in a blizzard to fix my car. He was able to fix it in the driveway so that I could get to my parents' house in Arkansas for the holiday.



Another time, I had a 1955 Buick convertible that I was planning to drive my daughter in to her wedding. The night before the wedding, it died by the side of the road and, again, I called Hansen's. Don was able to get a parts dealer to open up that night so that he could get what he needed to fix it. He also, stayed at the shop until 8 p.m., waiting for me to pick it up.



Don's son, John, who runs the shop now, is just as good as his father. I have already recommended Hansen's more than 30 times. They are first-rate in every respect.
