Great Grins Children's Dental Specialists appreciates MrsHRM's desire to schedule an appointment and apologizes if the deposit for a new patient appointment creates a problem. Unfortunately over the years, we have found that there are a few people, who may in good faith schedule appointments, but then do not show, especially for the initial appointment or cancel with such short notice that we cannot schedule others who might desire that appointment time. In consultation with professionals ranging from Hair Stylists, Plumbers, Physicians and others, we have found that the best way to assure scheduled appointments are kept and to be fair to all is by asking for a deposit. If the appointment must be canceled more than 48 hours prior to the appointment, there is a full refund. If there is unforeseen illness or other serious issue even at the appointment time, there is no penalty. The deposit is always either refunded or credited to patient’s accounts during the patient's appointment. We as a result, have totally erased our previously 30% no-show rate for new patient appointments. Our hopes are to never keep the deposit, but to keep patients happy with appointments that are reliably and readily available. If our great patients have other suggestions to achieve the same results, we'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks so much for your concerned comment.
