Very bad experience

My computer would not reboot after I deleted some critical software. I took it in to have my hard drive files recovered and a new operating system put on. I was told I could get the computer back in two days. Two days later, the computer was not ready, and I was told that the mother board was shorted out. More money and time was added to the estimate. I never got a call back when I was promised. I called and he did not yet have the motherboard and had not checked on it. After two weeks, he called me and told me that the motherboard did not fix it and that I needed to have a new operating system installed. I reminded him that was why I brought it in in the first place. I told him to cancel the repair, and I picked up the computer. My friend loaded Windows XP on it for free with the original motherboard and it has worked fine ever since.

I distinctly remember Terry, and I was extremely remorseful for the delays. He is correct, and we dropped the ball on this one. To clarify there was indeed a short in the motherboard and a replacement was ordered. The vendor took and unusally long time in delivering the board. Hence, the two week delay. Upon unseating his old motherboard it resolved the grounding issue that was not allowing it to start. A grounding issue that it arrived with and had to be resolved before an OS could be loaded. Once the PC was able to start we were going to load the OS as the customer requested. Given it had been two weeks the customer wanted to pick up the machine. Feeling apologetic for the extremely long delays we did not charge Terry for his back up which would have cost a minimum of $35 otherwise. We would do anything to make it up to him which is why we gave him his backups for free. Hopefully someday he will give us a chance to redeem ourselves and to prove that his experience was an exception and not the norm. Rodney Daugherty General Manager
