Dr. Johnsrude joined the division of Pediatric Cardiology in the University of Louisville School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics in 2002. He is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, and serves as Director of the Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology Arrhythmia Service for Norton Children's Heart Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Duke University (1980), Master of Science degree at University of Michigan (1984) and medical degree at the Brody School of Medicine (East Carolina University, 1988). He completed internship and residency in pediatrics at Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital Medical Center (1991) and fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric electrophysiology at Baylor College of Medicine (Texas Children’s Hospital, 1995). Prior to moving to Louisville, he was an assistant professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University (Chicago) where he served as associate director of pediatric electrophysiology program, director of pacemaker/defibrillator program, and director of the pediatric cardiology fellowship training program at Children’s Memorial Hospital. He is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Cardiology. His areas of interest include cardiac arrhythmias in children and adults with congenital heart disease, electrophysiology studies, 3-D EP mapping, catheter ablation, pacemakers and cardioverter-defibrillators.
