Founded in 1979, United Friends of the Children provides opportunities to youths for finishing high school, find housing and attending college. It provides support services to more than 2,000 youths each year. The organization helps families with financial support for tutoring, educational resources and counseling. United Friends of the Children also organizes cultural events, birthday and holiday celebrations and summer enrichment activities. Its Pathways Program includes educational mentoring and assistance, on-site mental health counseling, career development and guidance and ongoing personal support services, as well as independent living skills training. The organization s staff provides career workshops on topics, such as work ethics, job search techniques, mock interviews, computer skills and conflict resolution.
