What a great place for birthday gifts! They had just what we were looking for for my niece's birthday. And their staff was so nice and helpful. SO rare these days. I'm recommending to my friends with little ones in their lives.

I worked for her literally a d...

I worked for her literally a day and a half. In my sad experience with her I came to understand the owner has deceitful and fickle ways. My first day, she started out nice and then began to be rude, picking at things I did as I was being showed their operations. I began to feel bullied for no reason which made no sense as it was my first day and she was nice that morning. I still tried to remain optimistic then she asked me to do and say things to customers that were not true and were underhanded. The assistant manager told me I would come to learn she, not the owner, doesn't like people and as the owner was showing me things the assistant manager could be heard in the background telling me that no matter what I did the owner would not be pleased. I was surprised that she would say that in front of the owner but the owner didn't even tell her to stop.

I was told to tell customers whether they came in or called that the owner was never available even if she was very much so and apparently works every day. I was told that policy could be broken for certain customers referred to as tiger cubs and not for others and to jack up the normal price for shipping. The owner often used profanity when talking to me even in casual conversation which I felt very inappropriate not just as a worker but for a children's store...come on, really!! All day the first day she complained about the customers and their demands. She told me to do things her way and not to listen if told otherwise by the A.M.

When she was out of earshot the other three employees including the A.M. told me to do what she says when she is around and then do what I wanted when she is gone because her way wasn't efficient. I ignored them though they were right about something’s I was not working for them. I asked them about the high pricing of the toys and nothing could be said. A lot of the same books and toys can be found for cheaper at Toys R Us and online. A girl let me know that a lot of workers come and go and a guy worker said that if I was harassed by the owner and assistant manager, to let it go and ignore them.

The owner told me there was a lot of information to learn and not to be overwhelmed and that it would take me a few months to learn to wrap gift's as fast as they do. My second day halfway through my shift she told me that it wasn't working out. She said it took me too long to vacuum the carpet with her broken vacuum that morning and that I should not have organized her messy storage closet that day immediately after she asked me to take time to do it but rather later on at some point, though she said nothing as I did it. I was told that I wrapped the toys to slowly and she basically told me she was ready to let me go when I informed her that her Vacuum was broken and reminded her that she told me it would take me time (three months) to wrap to her standards. She then insinuated she would give me another chance though a moment before she was going to fire me, but I realized that she clearly has something’s she needs to work through and I cannot afford to deal with someone who operates the way she does and sees nothing wrong with it so I turned down her offer of a second chance.

I truly feel this place is a joke and a huge waste of my time. I was shocked and uncomfortable with the things I was asked to say to customers. I think your money would best be spent some place else without underhanded practices. You and your kids deserve better. It is the worst business I have ever had the misfortune of coming across.
