Place is great, except...

This place is great! My dog got neutered and his cherry eye removed here. Has had some shots here too. It's clean. Very affordable! The doctor is great, explains everything well and is very nice. Back office staff polite and friendly. Now the front desk is another story, the woman there was using profanity and foul language. Makes the place look really bad. She was very rude. No kind of professionalism that lady. Place is awesome though.

I'm a rescuer and I go here quite often. They started out slow and not so great, but with the origional owner gone this place has improved dramatically. Dr. Salah is great as well as the other vets and the front desk staff has become so much better. There really isn't any reason for complaints now as they have restrucered everthing to be much better and professional.

I have been a cat owner since ...

I have been a cat owner since I was ten, and have seen vets from Jersey to NYC to Los Angeles. I typically see the wonderful Dr. Michelle Jack at VCA in Santa Monica, or ASEC for emergencies --both wonderful places I would highly recommend.

However, I recently lost my cat, Reese, after several months and $7,000 worth of treatment. So, when I adopted two kittens months after this death, I wanted to save a bit on treatments whenever possible. My kitties are already vaccinated, fixed, etc etc -- all they both needed was a combo test. I was told that the tests here were $25. Trust me --it would have been worth the $45 to see Dr. Jack.

I called at 2 p.m. and said I was coming from Santa Monica, and needed to get combo tests. They assured me that this could be done today. After driving all the way there (30 mins) I waited for about 30-40 minutes in their lobby before the horrible receptionist, Gabby, told me they were out of them.

When I asked "What are my options, then?" She shrugged. Great answer.

At this point, since Gabby was ignoring me, I went up to a tech and asked if I could get a blood version of the test instead, which my "rescue helper" told me was $5 more. Instead, after doing the test, I was charged $100 dollars --twice as much per test, and $5 more than Dr. Jack --the consummate professional around the corner from my house --would have charged. I asked for a discount because I was screwed over by the receptionist, (who A -- told me they had tests when they didn't on the phone, and B -- waited the better part of an hour to tell me that they didn't have them once I drove there) and also because no one told me that the test cost twice as much.

Then Gabby started LAUGHING AT ME and calling ME rude. I repeat, LAUGHING AT ME. This is a human being who is paid for customer service. I eventually threw down my credit card and said 'just charge it', and she accused me of throwing it at her, when I clearly threw it down on the counter, nowhere near her, as I would never throw anything at another human being.

Her boss, Jocelyn, was equally rude. Both women found it funny to laugh at me while this was all going on. I said that I was going to write this review and wanted to speak to their manager, and they wouldn't let me, with Jocelyn claiming she'd have Gabby's back. "You are rude, and everyone here is a witness," says Gabby, with the attitude of a petulant teenager.

I left and then called back, because I decided that I wanted to A -- still speak with a manager, and B -- cancel the transaction if possible, because I don't ever want to give these people my money. They heard it was my voice and put me on hold, then never picked up. After waiting 10-15 minutes I called back again, and they were already closed.

It's an awesome place, where they rescue animals and give them a second chance. in stead of putting them down at other hospital because the owner doesn't have money or the pet stayed too long at the shelter and no body want to adopt him.

The staff is great, they are very compassionate and they love animals !

This place is great !! they rescue a lot of animals, give them new homes and new hopes !

They also have an outstanding medical team!! they helped hundreds of pupies survive parvoviral infection, they perform surgeries on a daily basis with very few complications compared to the heavy loads of procedures performed every day !

The doctor is very compassionate and dedicated to save animal life, during his exams even if the owner doesn't have any money to treat he does his best to find a way to treat the animal !

It's just a unique place where animal care cames first before the money !!! I love the ARC !!

this place is awesome. i had a sick dog and very little money and figured my only choice was to euthanize my dog. but she said she would help me find a away and she did! they really care about animals here and anyone that has a perfect past can attack her for hers. i dont care what she did before, i think what she is doing now is amazing and anyone that wants to do better should step up and do so!

as for the negative reviews well even I know that a spay would not open after a month, give me a break that thats a straight lie.

the ARC is greatly needed and I for one will spread how great they are. what ever her past is. god bless her for what she is doing now.

my sophie is doing great now!

btw they dont do adoptions. this is a hospital so the reviewer saying that the dog they adopted from larchmont is also lying.

Second chances

I have a kitten who was attacked and i found ARC and they have been extremely friendly as well as making sure all my questions are answered. For the review by 'formymutt' even though she may have a record, she is a animal lover EVERYONE deserves a second chance and this is it. So yes I understand that she may have a past that isnt clean but the service delivered at ARC is excellent.

This animal hospital is for rescuer groups and low income families. Keep that in mind before you give them a low rating. We need places like ARC.

This place is so poorly run. I got my dog there for two weeks because they show some dogs on Larchmont. Although, I love my dog so much and would never trade him in for the world. When i got him, he was underfed and definitely bullied by the other animals. On top of that, I've had to call incessantly to get all the medical records for him, and it's been two weeks! and i still have yet to get them. Every single time I call people are extremely rude to me, and it's so frustrating because all I want to do is be a good owner. I have never written a review before, but I truly feel like this place needs to be shut-down. They are cruel to animals and owners. Horrible!
