Dr. Ruth Clifford is a psychologist who has been in private practice in the mid-peninsula for more than 30 years. She works with adults in individual psychotherapy as well as with couples. Her approach is based on active collaboration with the client or client couple, tailored to their specific complaints and goals. She often recommends "homework" activities to identify problem areas and practice new ways of thinking and behaving. In addition to working with depression, anxiety, life stresses and trauma, Dr. Clifford is certified as a Sex Therapist by the national organization, AASECT (aasect.org). She treats sexual dysfunctions, desire disorders, and the effects of sexual trauma such as rape and childhood sexual abuse. She also works with relationship issues including communication, intimacy, and commitment. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Clifford is currently offering her services online.
