The Humane Society should stay out of the animal control business. Whether they don't receive enough money from the City to pay for them to be able provide adequate services, or for whatever reasons, they have put the responsibility of trapping, containing and transporting feral cats to their facility. If you don't own an animal trap it will cost you $100. for a refundable deposit + $15. per day rental fee. Very disappointed in Humane Society's administration of Animal Control.

Cowlitz County .. See how stray injured pitbull reacts being sang song by Garth Brooks...Hope i get to be his mom.. He just melted like a baby... his previous owners didn't love him. He was hit by a car.... i stayed by his side all night....My husband fell inlove with him too we named him Hercules because of the strength this dog has going through his battles in life. Hercules is a true hero and warrior. .

I was bullied, threatened, lied to and accused of stealing the dog. I didn't find the dog but fostered the dog just one month less than a year. Two animal control officers scanned the dog with four scanners over and over again. The animal control officers found NO chip! I was requested by an officer and then the director of the Cowlitz Humane Society to bring him in to be scanned to find a microchip again. The dog was taken in to the humane society. The dog was scanned three more additional times. The dog was a senior dog with a bad heart. None of the humane society workers cared about the dog's health nor did they care who they were returning the dog to. None of them inquired about his health or anything about the dog. Especially information the supposed owner needed to know for the benefit of the dog's life. In the Cowlitz County law codes governing our pets, when a lost dog is found then returned to the owner medical bills, advertising and food is stated to be compensated to the finder/foster person. The Cowlitz County Humane Society said, "no". We agree with Angel R. that it should be shut down and new caring people run it for the sake of the animals!!!!!!

If you think the humane society of Cowlitz county needs funds maybe you should do some serious checking. I have heard from a very good source that large sums have been given to them. By the smell of the place why haven't the animals benefitted from it??

I am a property manager and have had to call the Cowlitz County Humane Society for various services over the years. I have continued to be disappointed by service every time. They refuse to respond for stray animals unless our employees catch and contain them ourselves. If I report animal abuse or animals in vehicles they refer me to the police. The police refer me right back to them. I just feel that they do everything they can to avoid responding and lay the responsibility in someone else's lap. I have taken countless animals in that we have found. An office is not equipped to handle some of the animal-related incidents we encounter, but we truly care and try our best anyway without putting ourselves in an unsafe situation. I have been treated very poorly on the phone every time I have called. Zero customer service and very disappointing.

They Don't care and don't call anyone who adopts a pet or try's to adopt a pet and something happens to the animal they say they will call and never do.... And talk and act like they don't care if something happens to it..... All they want is money.... 95% of the ppl that work there counting the all the dog Catchers and a a lot of the ppl that work in the Longview Wa. Cowlitz county Humane Society done give a crap about the animal's just as long as they get payed if you don't pay them before you fill out the adoption papers they wont care if you want they animal or not They just ignore you and say they will do things like call you and not ever do it!!!! Save the animals from the abusive ppl that work there...... It needs to be shut down!!!! And have better ppl and a new place so the animals can start fresh and have ppl who really care!!!

I went to the Cowlitz County Humane Society today and was bullied and threatened and lied to. I am shocked that the employees were so cold and mean. I only wanted to have a dog scanned for a microchip so I could find his owner and bring it home. I will never support the Humane Society again.

failure to serve

I have been to this humane society several times and though I understand they are low on funds, they need to find another way to pay for things then continuing to gouge the people they are meant to help.

Very Dissapointed

My husband and I went to the Cowlitz Co. Animal shelter in hopes to bring home a dog to add to our little family. We have to small boys and happened to fall in love with a dog that we found there. Dakota ( a malamute ) up for adoption really took to us and our boys and we really would have like to have given him a loving home but much to our dismay we were turned down for not having enough money to adopt him... Sadly our boys and I were not able to come up with the funds for this dog because they expected $200.00 dollars for him. They said they would not come down on the price at all even though he would have no doubt been loved and cherished in our home. It saddens me that though we were able to give this dog a second chance for a better home then the drafty kennel they kept him in that not having the money they expected was the issue here... Since when do animal shelters care more about the money they make then finding a good home for the animals they are keeping there?
