Since 1927, Lombard Park District has proudly provided opportunities for people to enjoy life. If fact, we've continued to improve and beautify our many parks as well as expand our recreation programs and special events in order to provide our residents with the best parks and recreation programs possible. Today Lombard Park District consists of about 450 acres of land, including the world-renowned 8.5 acre horticultural showcase of Lilacia Park. A breathtaking floral display, Lilacia Park contains approximately 200 varieties of lilacs, and 50 varieties of tulips which bloom every spring. Lilacia Park is the site "Lilac Time, a village tradition that dates back to the late 1920's and attracts visitors from throughout the Midwest and beyond. In 2009, Lombard Park District was awarded the coveted National Gold Medal in Excellence in Parks and Recreation Still, Lombard Park District is more than beautiful, well-maintained park sites. Its facilities are top-notch and attract thousands of residents and visitors each year. Western Acres Golf Course is the Park District's challenging 9-hole, par 35 golf course, which stretches over 3, 000 yards and is host to several men's and women's golf leagues. Sunset Knoll Fitness Center offers a variety of cardio and weight training equipment for ages 15 and up. The NEW Paradise Bay Water Park offers state-of-the-art amenities that are endless and include a 140, 000-gallon leisure pool, bowl slide, zero-depth pool, bubble bench, lap pool, drop slide and much, much more!
