Durham School Services, which began as a school bus service focused on special education transportation, has grown to provide transportation for more than 28,000 special needs children in California alone. It is also the official transportation sponsor for the Special Olympics Summer Games in California and Texas. Durham s fleet has grown to more than 8,300 school buses, serving more than 250 school districts, in 21 states throughout the nation. The company is a division of National Express Corporation, the United States subsidiary of National Express Group, one of the largest transportation firms in the United Kingdom. It is part of a consortium of five reputable student transportation companies. In 2001, all five companies were united under the name Durham School Services. The company is headquartered in Austin, Texas and has locations throughout the Midwest and Southwest, including Springfield, Mass.
