Founded in 1972, the Plains Area Mental Health Center is a community-based, nonprofit organization that provides outpatient mental health counseling and adult rehabilitative services. It also offers individual and couple counseling and family therapy services. The organization provides psychotherapy services for depression, anxiety, fear, marital and family conflicts, mood swings, irritability, stress, anger, aggressiveness, and social and peer, as well as school and work adjustment problems.
