Formed in 1949, Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative is a wholesale electric generation and transmission cooperative owned by more than five electric rural cooperatives and a full-service municipal electric cooperative. The company and its member cooperatives serve the electricity needs of homes, farms, communities, businesses and industries in over 10 counties of western Iowa. It has more than 600 cooperatives that deliver energy and energy solutions to over 22 million customers in nearly 40 states. It owns various types of cooperatives, including consumer, producer and worker cooperatives. Consumer cooperatives provide services, such as energy, housing, child care, food, health care, savings and equipment. Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative also provides telecommunications services throughout western Iowa. It is located in Le Mars, Iowa.
