I took the first Tonka truck my father gave me as a child to the store to get refurbished. I paid a 200 dollar deposit. It's been three years and many phone calls and I have yet to see anything back. These guys are crooks.

On a recent trip to Vegas to settle my son's affairs after passing May 14, 2014, I went to the Toy Shop to sell some light sabers from 2006. I went mostly because of the hype from the TV show "Pawn Stars". The show made it seem that the store would be honest and fair but nothing could be farther from the truth. 4 of the light sabers were in pristine condition having never been opened and being sealed in a box. The others had some box issues but were still in good shape. I also brought a Darth Vader action figure case, a Star Wars Monopoly set and a vintage scooter with figure. The guy gave me $55 for the lot, saying that he would have to sit on them for awhile. Later wen returning home to NE and just for my own edification, I went to eBay to look up prices. JUST ONE OF THE LIGHT SABERS WAS SELLING AND HAD SOLD FOR $90. adding up all I sold him it turns out that he stole about $1000 worth of stuff for just $55. Profit is one thing but taking advantage of a woman mourning her son is another. Do yourself and the toy collecting community a favor and put this guy out of business. Don't sell him your stuff and buy from eBay and Greg's list. Together hopefully we can demand honest trades within our hobby. Lastly remember that these items only have the value we put on them. If we see them as unnecessary toys then that's what they become and loose there value. Scamers and thieves will be less likely to cheat us in the future. This has been a public service announcement. Be smart.

Toy Shack more like Toy Sham

Let me start by saying I've been collecting toys for many years. I know vintage toys can be pricey especially when there is an emotional attachment to a particular piece. Then, the sky is the limit and money is no object. The people at Toy shack know this and of course try and capitalize on your emotion to replace that lost toy you've been looking for.

I have visited Toy Shack a few times and each time I notice that their prices get higher and higher. Many of these over priced toys are not even vintage and/or in really bad shape. What inspired me to write this review is not the fact that Toy Shack has an 18 year old female with an attitude that has no knowledge on vintage/collectables working there. Thats fine, if she don't know what your talking about but when she talks to you an experienced collector like you're the idiot then there is a problem.

The reason I was inspired to write this review. The other day I visited Toy Shack to sell my 1982 Talking Knight Rider and figure which is in near mint condition. As I approached the counter, I was met with a male who did not even want to acknowledge me and was dismissive when I asked if they were interested in the car. He then became completely unreasonable and seemed combative at times. I just happen to know that Toy shack recently sold a 1982 talking Knight Rider for $400 without the figure and this guys offered me $30. Not to mention my model is in C9 condition with figure and working parts. He didn't seem interested in even looking at the car. Now, I understand that Toy Shack has to make a profit but $30 was very insulting. He stated, " What I spend and sell are two different matters." Yes, they sure are. Turning $30 into $400 is really something to be hold. He did not want to negotiate and basically wanted my car for free.

Toy Shack has a really nice inviting decor. Your eyes keep wondering around because they have so many items to look at but once inside it's a different story. On the several occasions that I visited the store, it has always been empty. Located on Fremont Street in downtown vegas You would think that the place would be jammed packed with people which isn't the case.

What I believe keeps their store empty:

1. The prices are very high. Even modern toys you find at toys r us are way over priced. 2. The staff are rude and unknowlageable. They say they will negotiate with you on marked prices but when you start negotiating they really don't deal.

Save yourself a ton of money if your looking for that special toy/collectable and go somewhere your business is appreciated and your visit wont empty the savings account. If you're in the market of selling your collectables, save yourself the gas and frustration, stay clear of Toy Shack.

What a rip off. I went in to ...

What a rip off. I went in to sell many rare, collectible toys and the man working was completely unreasonable. He didn't even take my things out of the storage bins to look at them. He said 240$ for all of it. 3 full bins. When I tried to discuss which individual items he would be interested in, he was dismissive. He tried to tell me that because some of the boxes were damaged (slightly bent corners) that they would have to take the toys out to sell them (!!!!). Any collector knows even a damaged box is better than no box. The other young girl working there had a serious attitude problem while trying to tell ME about how toys are valued. I've been collecting for probably more years than she has been alive. Total THUMBS DOWN.

Friendly and Helpful

I will be back. As a collector of Hot Wheels, I was impressed to find that this store had a good variety of vintage Hot Wheels and the reps know their product.
