Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a Dental Home for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care. The Dental Home is intended to provide a place other than the Emergency Room for parents. You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. The less to-do concerning the visit, the better.

Dear Dr. Waggoner,

My son is 6 years old. He has been going to another dentist since I adopted him at 2 years old. At his appointments I used to have to sit on the chair and hold him down with my legs wrapped around him as well as two nurse hold him down to get his x – rays and cleaning. Frequently we could not even get his x-rays or a cleaning. I just thought that was the way it was.

THEN our world changed!!!!!!

I was recommended by Niki at Rainbow Dental to see Pediatric Dental Care Associates. My son LOVED HIS VISIT in December 2008. It was EASY to get his x-ray and his teeth cleaned. He has his picture with the toothbrush in his bathroom. AND every time we pass the office he asks me, “Mommy when can I go to that dentist again?”. His birthday is coming up and he even said, “now that I am going to be 7 and not 6 anymore can I go to that Dentist again?”

I am amazed and thrilled that I tried Pediatric Dental Care Associates. My only sorrow is that we did not go to Pediatric Dental Care Associates sooner!

I highly recommend Pediatric Dental Care Associates for all of your children. I would even go to them if I could.

Yours in good health..

---- a happy mom
