Amazing Staff

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Island Pet Hospital. Their staff is friendly and knowledgable, the doctors are sympathetic to our needs and greet my pets and me with enthusiasm and genuine smiles. The medicine practiced here is second to none and I wouldn't think about taking my pets anywhere else.

My little Sweetie who is 13 has had some heart issues and recently a tooth problem we have taken her to Ann road Animal Hospital when we moved to Vegas, so I called them and made an appointment for yesterday. THAT WAS A DISASTER AND WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME AND SO STRESSFUL TO MY SWEETIE... we looked on line and found Island Pet Hospital. My husband took Sweetie there this morning. WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. From the time he entered every staff member treated my little Sweetie with love and kindness. Doctor Watson took the time needed with Sweetie and explained things to my husband. Sweetie was not stressed out as she was treated so nice. THANK YOU SO MUCH ISLAND PET HOSPITAL. My dogs are like my children and I thank you so much for being the BEST veterinarians I could possibly have for my dogs. THANK YOU .....THANK YOU....THANK YOU

I LOVE this Hospital. All of t...

I LOVE this Hospital. All of the Vets there are incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and down to earth nice people! You don't feel rushed, or blind sided by outrageous costs. My puppy recently ate a poisonous palm tree and i immediatley rushed her over to IPH. My vet of choice (Dr. Collins) was off that day so I saw Dr. Watson, and she was just as concerned for my baby as I was.. we ran some blood work and kept her there all day for fluids. At the end of the day she helped me transfer from their hospital to the emergency clinic because she needed to be monitored over night. She was so helpful. The next day I brought her back to see Dr. Collins and he did everything he could to assure me that she was going to get the best care possible and would make it through this! I left her there for the day in complete confidence that my girl would be okay. A few days of fluids, tests, and lots of love and care later she was almost as good as new. I continued with regular follow ups and dr.collins went out of his way to follow up with me constantly to make sure she was okay. Now when we go in for regular check ups she gets so excited to see him! wagging her tail and giving him kisses on his compassionate face! He saved my baby and I'll never trust any other hospital!

I really appreciate the staff ...

I really appreciate the staff here. They always go above and beyond for me. This is the first vet office that my dogs actually enjoy coming too. Dr. Goldman and his staff are very knowledgeable and take their time to answer any question I have. I have not boarded my dogs here, but I have taken a tour of the kennel area and it was spotless. I noticed someone complaining about the cat boarding area in the lobby, but I thought it was nice. The cats were watching birds and enjoying themselves when I visited. All and all, its a great vet clinic with very reasonable prices.

Do NOT take you beloved pet there

My dog had an disease known as "Valley fever" which she contracted in Phoenix ~ 6 years ago. The disease meant she would need to be on specific medication for months at a time if the symptoms re-appeared. After 6 years of moving in the military, I had a lot of wonderful vets from the 1st one who diagnosed the condition and saved her life to ones in other states who were not as familiar with the disease but who educated themselves and were overall, a great blessing (still visit them when returning to my home state). The disease is life threatening and timely treatment is critical. After 6 years when I saw the sysmptoms, I was pretty sure what the problem was; however, just to be on the "safe" side I took my dog to the vet with the soonest opening to run tests to make sure there were no other problems (liver, kidney, heart, etc)

The owning vet (Dr Goldman I believe) is wonderful; however, his partner is unethical, immoral, unapologetic, and caused needless suffering and a slow painful death for my dog.

At the vet on Wednesday, pain medication was administered and blood/urine/stool samples taken which is normal to see if anything else is wrong. He also wanted to take X-rays and perform some other tests which did not seem appropriate as I had her medical records with me, documenting her condition, and had seen vets over the last 6 years who did require a bunch of "other" tests. Thursday, I called to get the test results and he stated all the test came back fine (heart, kidney, liver) but he still wanted to get X-rays, etc. I asked why and he became agitated, the conversation deteriorated with me saying "just tell me what the hell to do for her", to which he went off on a tangent of "don't curse at me" and never came back to his recommendation that she should be hospitalized and given IV treatment. He did not like my questioning why the "other" tests and my use of profanity so he hung up on me and wrote in his medical charts that she should be hospitalized and put on IV treatment but did not tell me!

I do not generally curse, but unfortunately I did not handle the stress of the situation well (she had not eaten in 3 days and could not swallow the medication) I do not condone the use of adult language but a care giver must be able to help stressed out people deal with life threating illness and or the dying process. Instead, he was offended by the way I reacted to the stress, so he elected not tell me his recommendation of immediate hospitalization - she died 2 days later on Saturday.

I saw the owner Firday and we did more tests and he finally recommended I give her the medication for the "valley fever" disease...now she could not swallow it. The owner thought she would be fine even as I pleaded with him to help me find a way to administer the medication, pain meds were injected and he gave me a liquid for her to drink and said to come back Monday--she died on Saturday night. The owner believed she would be ok, and just being wrong is not a problem, only God knows.

The real problem is with a vet disregarding his oath because he was offended. If the vet I paid to give me a recommendation had told me I should take her to the hospital and put her on an IV I would have been there within the hour. He instead let her suffer, and eventually die because he was offended. Unethical, immoral, and in the end unaplogetic with a complete and total disregard for their patients and or caregivers. Do NOT take you pet there! If there were further legal actions I could take I would; however, any other vet in Las Vegas would be a better place to take you pet.

I'm sorry we did not meet this guy's stringent needs. Rudeness and profanity is not the way for him to treat us or anyone. When you wait for that disease to "show symptoms" it is often too late...especially after 6 years. I am sorry for his loss, but our staff and doctors are caring and compassionate. We spend our lives caring for pets and put our hearts and souls into it. We have nearly 10,000 families who trust us with their pets and I feel no one can make this one difficult guy satisfied. Dr. C is a Gulf war veteran and has a great heart. We all don't deserve his unfair review and we are happy to send him down the road.
