Graleys Tire serviced my vehicle from May 11, 2015 thru June 4, 2015 and again on June 23, 2015 thru June 26, 2015– At that time they removed & replaced the front struts and front springs, balancing & aligning all four tires which required removal and remounting of all four tires.
The recent servicing and inspection was to ensure my vehicle was safe for my planned visit to California. I proceeded to drive to California on June 29th for a week long family vacation.
I was involved in a serious accident on July 6, 2015 due to the driver’s rear tire coming off while I was entering onto the southbound 1-5 freeway on-ramp by Del Mar Highlands Rd. The accident was very serious and could have been catastrophic. The vehicle was inspected at the scene of the accident (prior to being towed) by the towing company which discovered that three Rear Lug Bolts had fallen out and the two remaining had snapped off the rear Driver’s side tire. Furthermore, I was informed by the towing company Supervisor and Employee that the three remaining tires Lug Bolts were loose, several of them were only finger tight. Therefore, it is obvious that the tires had not been safely mounted as one of the lug bolts was discovered located by the rim that had fallen off on the freeway and that it matched the other Lug Bolts on the vehicle. Also, I have two witnesses who were there at the time of the accident who stopped to remove the rim and assist me. I believe that this accident was due to Graley’s Tire serious negligence – and their Failure to properly secure the tire Lug Bolts which has resulted in serious financial damages.
We contacted and spoke with Manuel Navar owner Graley Tire on July 7, 2015 and asked him why the lug nuts where loose and informed him that one of the tires on our vehicle had fallen off and that our vehicle was totaled. We questioned him on how he installed the tires He stated that he only tightens Lug Bolts with air hammers set to 100lbs and Doesn't HAND TORQUE Lug nuts. He became very, very evasive and when we informed him that we were informed by that the Lug Bolts need to be hand torqued to at least 110lbs per specs. Mr. Navar became agitated and then hung up.
I have sent Mr. Navar a letter requesting reimbursement for all costs with the repair work he performed for parts and labor as well as costs associated with his negligence which was ignored. I have been forced to take legal action thru the Small Claims Court System and have filed a case. Furthermore, Our Insurance company is pursuing legal action to recoup all costs for our total loss.
I have investigated Graley Tire further and discovered that their business license was outdated and subsequently filed a complaint with the Nevada Attorney General office and the Nevada DMV.
Sadly We assumed that Mr. Navar knew what he was doing, which is obviously not the case, as we have had nothing but issues with his repairs and service.
We are appalled at his lack of integrity and his unethical business practices.
Therefore, beware and we suspect that we may have been a victim of discrimination against white people.
