I'd been looking forward to ...

I'd been looking forward to trying Five Guys since I first heard about them a couple of years ago on television.

Recently, a Five Guys opened near my home so I went to go have lunch there.

The first thing that I noticed, when I opened the door, was the wall of music hitting me in the face. Really? Does music have to be so loud? Well that killed eating at the restaurant which was just as well because a total of about $200.00 was spent on furnishings for the place.

The interior of the restaurant has no personality unless one likes "Spartan".

Now comes the strange part. The employees keep yelling out numbers. I tried to figure out what the numbers meant but even with the constant 22!, 47!, 13!, I couldn't do so. Management must have the employees shout out random numbers to give the place some sort of personality and to make it sound busy (it wasn't). I kept waiting to hear "hut, hut, hut!" after a string of numbers but it never came.

As for the food. The cheeseburger was good but not in the league of some of the best burgers that I've ever had (think Johnny Rockets). And I guess that I don't like fresh french fries. The fries were as limp as partially cooked fettuccine. I like firm fries. Perhaps if the fries were left to rest and then fried again to let them firm up I would like them better.

I don't plan on returning to Five Guys because at $9.74 for a cheeseburger and fries I can go elsewhere and get a better meal for less.
