This was the only site that I investigated when a friend was being transferred, and I thought to myself. :Holy Crap" can it be this bad?? Well first of all all these reviews are outdated. From what I witnessed and from those that I spoke with .. they are trying hard and doing their best to provide good care. Of course their are bad apples in every bunch. And it only takes one to ruin it. I would like to add that if you have any valuables make sure you take inventory and get them locked up or they could disappear. You get what you pay for and yes they may be a little under staffed. They could use some volunteers like they have in the hospitals since they are under staffed. It is a difficult job just like teaching..workers probably are under paid..

Darrin, this is for you...

I witnessed that Debbie Dailey being verbally abusive to residents and staff, then laughing about it while smoking her cigarettes in non-smoking designated areas. By the way, she and Darrin Cook (with whom its rumored she is humping to keep her job) hatched the plan (in 2009) to have Debbie Dailey and her nurse cohorts repeatedly and falsely call the 'In Touch' Employee Hotline and make fradulent and false allegations against the female Administrator, in order to have her fired for being 'too liberal' for this LDS maintained organization. If you trust this pack of rapists to take care of your loved ones, you are as stupid (and as nefarious) as they are. By the way, ALL Fundamental owned nursing homes in the Las Vegas area have the same issues: CORRUPTION.

Unethical Ambilvelence Abounds in this Arena!!!

Picture yourself at a circus... A circus sponspored by Fundamental Holdings, Inc. A circus in the dark, dank, fetted cells of Oasis Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center (formerly, Desert Lane Care Center before the 'big' name change to attempt to avoid media attention to the scandals) packed with the ailing, incapacetated elderly and disabled of the Las Vegas the community. These, the 'residents,' after all, are what keeps this circus 'funded,' with DLCC's process called 'The Conversion' (a process in which a resident is 'approached' by a facility worker, and 'gently' prodded to change the resident's HPN issued insurance to a higher-rate paying Medicare reimbursement for medical bills) and the practice of admitting HIV+ patients with no family, then double-billing Clark County and Medicare for medical bills. A VW pulls into the arena, and Reese, the Ringmaster, jumps out! "In the first ring, we present the 'Nurse of Nasty,' the 'Demonista of Death,' Nurse Hanssen!" (Yep, that in-charge Nurse Hanssen has killed a few in her day! A few residents-by not feeding them, offspring-by not parenting him...its all game to 'er!) "In the second ring, we have the 'Black Widow! She's a ringer in the market, and bet the market on her in the ring! And, in the center ring, we have DC! DC does nothing. He just sits there. ...just sitting.' PT Reese the Ringmaster is one slick dude! He can make the money of the residents disappear without providing quality services or viable facility amenities (like televisions sets), while falsifying employee fingerprinting (in addition to his two other legal infractions, accounted for by BELTCA and can be found on their website), and still kanoodlin' with the chippees, at those swank Vegas hangouts, behind the fiancee's back...

the worst long term facility in the state

I was given a choice to send my father to Desert Lane Care Center and after further inspection of the facility itself, I had come to a conclusion that it could possibly be one of the worst convalescent homes in Nevada. From the moment you walk into the building, you are greeted with a strong, foul odor. It smelled awful like old dry urine. Smell is a key factor when choosing convalescent homes and Desert Lane was outright foul. Disturbingly so, the staff weren't courteous whatsoever. Nurses seemed to be doing something else while patients were left on their own. Patient's lights would be flashing yet the staff seemed quite lax to respond. I approached administration about the situation but Frank, the Administrator, didn't want to be bothered, as if it wasn't his problem. The director of nurses, a large and haughty woman would waddle down the hallway without even addressing call lights or telling her staff to get to their duties. It was awful and saddening.

I refused to send my father there to die. It's a horrible facility and it is painful to understand how such cruelty could be tolerated by not only the staff but the administration as well. In short, save yourself and your loved one from grief and choose other long term facilities in the valley.
