I am new to the Lansing Area so I needed to find a new dentist for my family. Midwestern Dental was relatively close so I decided that I would try them out.

My experience thus far has been less than pleasant. When I made the first appointment with the clinic the receptionist seemed to be in a bad mode, I didn’t really mind because I understand that people have bad days.

When I made it to my families appointment on time, I ended up having to wait for about 40 minutes before my wife was finally called back, my son and daughter were about 10 minutes behind each. The staffs in the back were good and very professional, the dental tech as well as the dentist.

When I went back to the front desk the attendant seemed unwilling to help me get a new appointment for my family. It felt like I was the one providing a service to her instead of vice versa.

Every time I have called the clinic since then (4 or 5 times) to schedule a new appointment or in one case reschedule the receptionist seemed to be annoyed talking to me. It was somewhat frustrating.

My patience was starting to wear thin, but because I decided that it was not the dentists fault I went back this week.

My daughter went in to get two fillings on baby teeth. I found out when I checked in that there were two different types of composite and they had defaulted to the more expensive one. I did not find this out until after I had paid for it, so I just left the credit on my account.

After the appointment that evening I noticed white dots on my daughters lips, those dots have since developed into what looks to be Canker sores, when I called the clinic today again the receptionist was rude. Her tone of voice made it sound like I was causing her a problem by calling to try and get my daughters mouth examined.

I have decided that I will no longer go to this clinic, I will be going to a different dentist to take care of my Family.

I fear that this clinic will lose more business because of the receptionists seeming unwillingness to help the patients. As an active duty Marine I have enough to deal with without having to deal with the rudeness of a receptionist.



If there was a way to rate lower than a star I probably would.

I see all the bad reviews about Midwestern Dental. Keep in mind that in many cases, the business is as good as the dentist who is the Director. In the past, there have been some Directors that were not good and I knew this from just patronizing this business and observing. Currently as of 8/9/2012 the Director is excellent and has high standards and is doing a great job of making this establishment a professional place. I would say that the quality of care you get also depends on the dentist that works on your teeth. Dr. Zhu is very good and a visiting dentist from the Hastings area is also very good. The hygienists are all quite good. The ortho there also has a very good lady in charge of it who cares and knows what she's doing. And the price for braces is unbeatable esp. if you sign up for their in-house insurance. A lot of people have no choice as to where to go for dental care. This is close to many people's homes and affordable. I will say that one bad policy is requiring an exam and then having to wait a long time for an appointment no matter what your problem is. A certain number of appointments should be reserved for those that need immediate treatment.

DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST! They do not care at all about you and will barely acknowledge if they waste your time and treat you like garbage!



I went in for a basic exam and cleaning at this dentist. I arrived early with my paperwork filled out and everything. I then waited in the lobby for 45 minutes before being called to the back. Once in the back, I then waited for 30 minutes before the hygenist (who was very nice and the only bright spot) came in to do my cleaning and was surprised that the dentist hadn't been in to see me yet. She did her thing and then went off to find the Dentist. I overheard a conversation between the hygenist and the Dentist where she told him that he needed to see me next and he responded "I don't care how long she's been waiting, she's not my problem". Needless to say, I continued to wait.



Finally the Office manager noticed that I had been there a while and said "Didn't anyone tell you there is no exam Dr. today and you were supposed to come back for the exam?" Umm No they did not and even if they had I would have been furious. I demanded to see a Dentist and was finally "quickly" checked out (after 2 hours that is). I have cavities to be filled, but I will absolutely not be coming back here. If you have ANY choice, do not use this office, they are a mess and not especially friendly.
