Dr. DeCent is by far the best veterinarian I have ever met! I brought my dog in for a routine exam and shots. He sat on the floor with my dog during the visit, petting him and gently checking him over. He even covered my dog's ears to tell me that he needed to lose 5-10lbs! ����
Then, because he knows how expensive the shots are, the exam was free! FREE!! That's unheard of in the veterinary field! He really wants the best care for the pets without having to break the bank of the owners!
I just think he's amazing and I send everyone I know to see him!

This place is so busy because they are cheap. Unfortunately they are too busy to properly care for any animals. You get what you pay for. If you love and care about your animals pay the extra money and go to a real vet

Dr. ray Decent and his staffs are very friendly. I would highly recommend them for minor wellness exams and treatments. But if your pet needs surgical or dental treatment, BEWARE!. My dog came home and died of severe dehydration for dental cleaning. Knowing that you can't give food and water before, while waiting(7 hours) , and after the procedure, my dog was not given I.V fluid during the procedure which is standard in other vet clinics.I took him to another emergency vet clinic,his veins had collapsed because of dehydration.

I had seen this clinic on my way to Steilacoom dog park. While at the park one day my 3.8lb Chi-Pom "precious" started acting sick, then lethargic, then she lost color and consciousness. I was told there was an ER on Durango Road and was panicing on how to get her there fast enough and how on earth I would pay for it. It was a Sat at noon and when driving by I saw Custer Road Vet was open so I stopped in and they took my Precious immediately. The Dr gave her emergency treatment without running unnecessary tests at clinic prices. I can't believe she was near death and he was able to treat her and I left with less than $200 in vet bill. The staff was super and the Dr was honest and direct. This is my new vet!

I got to the are because of the military. I had two dogs when I first moved to Steilacoom and my pet sitter recommended this vet. I feel in love with the Dr. and his staff. So careful and throughout with out unnecessary tests. They also have the best prices of the area (I leave in Lacey now and they are still cheaper and better). I got married and I my husband had a cat that was sick. I took them to many Vets closer to our house ( we lived in Yelm) an no one could figure out what the cat had. So I too him to Custer and guess what the cat is perfectly fine now recovering from a condition that would have killed him and that Dr. DeCent diagnosed the first time he had ever seen our cat. Now I have a new puppy and he goes to Custer as well. I have a 40 min drive to his clinic but trust me when I tell you that it is well worth it, knowing that my pets get quality and thoughtful care, and to top it off, inexpensive. Thank you Custer road!!!

We love Ray, we have been using this facility for our dog for 8 years now. He is very gentle with our dog and great at explaining to our kids what he is going to do to help our dog. We have a 100 lb lab and he gets so excited to and visit Ray.

The whole staff is great they make you feel real relaxed and the doctor is so understanding and tells it like it is .. There is no guessing when going to them.. They are great.. Real down to earth Doctor.

I have taken my pets to Dr. Decent and the crew at Custer Road Vets since 2001. Superb care and honest evaluations. I trust them 100%.

We have been going to Custer Road Vet Clinic since Ray took over and we couldn't be happier with the service we recieve there. They offer military discounts, and treat our pets as if they were their own. You can tell they care a great deal about the pets and their clients. With all of our dogs, Ray has gotten right down on the floor with them especially the big baby I have right now who weighs nearly 100 pounds and tries to climb on my lap and hide he's so afraid. I've recommended him for years and will continue to do so!!

The prices are very high. They charge you even if you dont see the Doctors. They use expensive equipment that is so unneeded and charge you an arm and a leg for it. I stopped going here and drove a bit further to Lakewood veterinary hospital. they are so much nicer, cheaper and they care a great deal for your pets. I even seen the doctor shed a tear after they had to put an animal down after it was hurt in a car accident. it was sad and they really seemed to care.

I will never go back to Custer. they are almost as bad as banfield.

Dr. Descent is a wonderful veterinarian whom truly cares about his patients.

They honestly care about animals. I took my cat to him for a follow up, after spending a fortune at a 24 hour emergency clinic, worried about what I was going to be charged. The Dr. said 'well I can do a bunch of tests that will cost a lot but I already know what the problem is and rather than upset the cat anymore we'll just start treatment'. He also handles the animals well.

Highest recommendation I can give for a top quality VET + support staff. Very good prices for area.2 dogs 7 years and now travel to get my pet care done there.
