Dr. Forestiere brings compassion and skill to his practice, where he specializes in General Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. What is your patient care philosophy?I aim to provide compassionate care for my patients during their time of great need and to continue that compassionate care with empathy for their families. What would you like people to know about you as a physician? As their physician, I will keep things simple for all and always tell the truth about their care. Why did you decide to become a physician?I knew that I wanted to devote my life to helping others. What do you enjoy most about working with patients?I think there is no better feeling than helping your patients fully understand what is happening to them, and ultimately guiding and empowering them through the treatment of their trauma care, surgery, and recovery. When did you know you wanted to be a doctor? When I stepped away from my childhood dream of playing professional baseball, I decided that I wanted to do something with my life that would help people every day. How does your work improve lives? When someone's life is interrupted with a trauma or a major accident, we help the patients and their loved ones through the surgery, treatment and management of their injuries to get them back home to their family and friends as well as back to their work and daily life. What are some interesting facts about you? I am told that I can cook a steak juicier, tastier and better than most steakhouses. I love to travel. My wife and I have begun visiting a different National Park every year. Tell us about your family. My wife is my rock and my foundation - and also a super woman. She is currently finishing her Emergency Medicine residency. We have two wonderful children, our daughter Ava Rose, 2 years old, and our son Alec Joseph, born this February. We have a boxer puppy named Mattie who is a goofball. What memory do you have about visiting the doctor? I'll never forget how my doctors made me smile with jokes, games and suckers when I broke my arm as a 7-year-old child. And that they let me pick the color of my cast and I chose hot pink.
