Bob F is the technician that installed my natural gas furnace and air conditioner. I have had a lot of work performed in my home and Bob F is by far the best. He is very courteous, he doesn't leave a mess, he answers all kinds of questions (in other words there is no such thing as a dumb question), and when the job is done he thoroughly explains the operation and everything else that you need to know. I am very satisfaction with his expertise and performance.

Just had a furnace installed by Andy O. from Andy's Statewide and I was very pleased with their work. They were able to get the furnace installed same day and finished everything with no hassle. I highly recommend this company.

Andy's Statewide installer Bob F. arrived on time and was very efficient and knowledgeable about the furnace installation. He was very polite and finished the entire job in approximately 4 hours. Very satisfied with the price and service provided to me. I will call Andy's Statewide again for additional services and they come up. My next purchase will probably be a new water heater and hope Bob will be my technician.

We had a complete installation of a new furnace/water heater/humidifier/air conditioner last month. Install went great. Yesterday with cold snap we turned on the furnace. This morning we heard some loud noise like somebody fell down the stairs - upon investigating we then noticed water around the furnace. Called Andy's Stateswide they had a service person, Mario, here within an hour. Apparently, a hose blew off our high efficiency furnace which wasn't connected properly to drain pain - thus the water. All repaired now. Mario was VERY prompt, courteous, friendly and efficient. Very impressed with fast service!

I had Andy's go out to give a price to replace my 84 y/o Dad's 57+ y/o furnace. John did a great job explaining to my Dad and sister what needed to be done. He gave us a great price and we set an install date. The installer Bob was friendly and did a great job. My Dad is very pleased with how well they took care of his home.

Called them to clean the filter in the furnace and that's all. Person came and focused on another part. Replace it and didn't leave the "broken" part and charged us over $800. When asked to clean the filter, he said we need to call the company since he wasn't asked to do that. CROOKS!!! Looked on Youtube and figured out how to do it myself. It is so easy. Beware of this company! They prey on people who don't know. Thanks to Youtube, I will never fall victim to companies like these!!!!!

I would not call this company, they suggested that I replace even the units that were in good working condition.

My home warranty company (AHS) sent Andy’s Statewide to my home to fix my problem. I was told there were major problems (which I knew—it was an old unit) that would cost $1,300 and there were additional code violations/upgrades that I would have to pay for ($300). My warranty company informed me the code violations were not covered and I would have to pay for them myself. I asked Andy’s Statewide what specific violations they were referring to. They could not specify. I asked my warranty company if I could get a second opinion and they let me call my local heating and cooling guy. He confirmed there was a major problem, but no code violations. He fixed the problem for $1,100 (saving my warranty company $200) and saving me $300 for (bogus) code violation. These guys from Andy’s Statewide are either incompetent or crooks. I suspect the latter.

I was so impressed by the quality, knowledge and integrity of both Jonah K. (on the initial inspection) and Dalton P. (the new furnace install) that I would recommend these guys to everyone who would ever need a furnace inspection or replacement. Thank You Jonah and Dalton! Great Job!

Chris was very knowledgeable in helping me determine if repairing my old heating/cooling system or purchasing a new one was the better alternative. He assisted me in determining the correct system for my home, and his courteous manner and his knowledge make him an excellent representative for Andy's Statewide.

I thought if I went with Home ...

I thought if I went with Home Depot I would be OK...Andy's Lied, cheated, scammed and disrespected me ad infinitum...I wrote up a lengthy PDF documenting everything...they didn't do any load calc the first time...so I had to whip Home Depot like a mule to get another system put in....in the end I am happy with the new system, but I over-payed by about 20%(including my so-called %10 military discount)...they put non-plenum rated wires in my return duct...sigh....my advice to people...is to go with a contractor that is an ACCA member and has NATE certified installers...also demand a "J-load calc"...if they won't do one..then walk(no run!)...stay away from Andy's IMO.

We always strive for 100% customer satisfaction at Andy's Statewide. In this case, we originally sold and installed a 2 stage 80% furnace and a 13 SEER air conditioning system of comparable size to the existing equipment that was in the home. After the job was completed, it was brought to our attention that the customer felt as though the equipment was oversized for the home and desired a heat load calculation. We returned to the home and completed a load calculation and found that the home could tolerate a smaller furnace and air conditioner if the customer desired. Had this been a case of just swapping equipment sizing with like equipment, this would have been a straight forward fix. However, after researching other alternatives available after the installation, the customer elected to change brands, upgrade the air conditioning to 14.5 SEER, upgrade to a variable speed furnace, add de-humidity control for the A/C and add other features not originally included. It took a little time in order to find the desired equipment and agree upon a final resolution, but there needed to be some certainty that we would have an acceptable replacement system for all parties. The system was completely replaced with different brand equipment, higher efficiancy air conditioning and furnace, and other features which were not originally sold. The added cost agreed upon was just the added equipment cost of the variable speed furnace only. The job was done to code, a permit was pulled for the work, and the job passed city inspection. The price charged was very reasonable and representative of the system sold and installed. We did everything possible to insure the customer was satisfied with their new system, and we hope they will be over time.

Big upcharge for R22 Freon is ...

Big upcharge for R22 Freon is the main reason for 3 stars. Andy's charges $75 per pound of refridgerant (May 2012) and local supply stores charge a/c contractors around $15 right now. Check E-bay, a liscensed contractor can get a 30# R22 can for $10 per pound including shipping. Get everything in writing. If you decide to think about repair vs new unit (recommended), make sure they put it in writing if they say they'll offset the cost of today's visit on a new unit or repair. They will be pushing R410a because it is going to be phased out. Do your research. R22 will be made until 2020 and they can also reclaim R22 from older systems (therefore it will be around for a long time, albeit more expensive as the years go on).

claimed iconBusiness Response09/17/2012

Keep in mind that the price of $75 per pound of R22 covers the entire price of providing the service of adding refrigerant to the a/c system and is competitive price for the service being provided. The price of R22 refrigerant is only a portion of the cost of getting a trained techncian with the right tools out to the home in a well equipped van to fix the necessary problem. If a system is losing refrigerant, this is typically a sign of trouble. Air conditioning systems don't use refrigerant and should not require refrigerant to be added on a repetitive basis. Air conditioining systems should be completely sealed systems and should not lose refrigerant. If the system has worked for several years and is then suddenly low on refrigerant, there is problem. Once a leak develops, the leak tends to get larger over time and the system will always require refrigerant to be added. If you have a leak, you should have a leak search performed to find out where the leak has occured and then you can make a determination as to the best course of action (repair or replace). In most systems that develop a leak after several years, the failures tend to be major repairs (though not always). Where customer are facing a major system repair, many customers with the financial ability to repalce the system will elect to invest in a new R410 system rather than chance spending money fixing an R22 system that may have other major repairs in the coming years (in addition to the rapidly rising cost of refrigerant). If the a/c system will hold the refrigerant charge and if a customer decides on a one time temporary fix of adding refrigerant to the a/c system, we will apply this cost of refrigerant to a new system purchase and this should be noted on the invoice. This will typically provide enough time to evaluate options and make an informed decision.

i had a service guy that came ...

i had a service guy that came out and told me that I needed a new air conditioner. I asked him to do a overall checkup and he fumbled around and kept moving around almost avoiding me the entire time. So his answer was to come back after the a few days after the ice had thawed. So we spent the 100 degrees days without air to have him come back the following Monday. When he came back he fumbled around and told me that we absolutely needed a new a/c. I asked him whether he can just patch up the leak and fill with freon. He said that he will not guarantee the work and I will need a new a/c anyways and he will not recommend the service. All of this he said in a condescending and nasty tone. I told him "thank you, but I need more time to think about it". I called another company to get a 2nd opinion. The service guy came out and immediately found a hornet's nest right about where the pressure checks are. So, the guy never did any real pressure checks on the a/c unit and had us suffer through the hot weekend just so that they can sell me a new a/c unit! If it wasn't for the hornets I would have never known about this. I know that we need a new a/c unit, but I just wanted one more season so that I can save up for it for next summer. If Andy's was kind and understanding about the situation I would have called them first to install the new unit. I will not recommend this company to anyone!!! Watch out!

Poor Workmanship

I would never recommend this company to anyone. I deeply regret having this company install our furness. They do NOT do quality work. They have an impressive sales person come out to your house and tell you they will do a job to your satisfaction, but the people who actually come out to do the work do a very poor job and cut corners. Home Depot contracts them out. That is why we thought this company would be good. Also, they do NOT stand by their 100% satisfaction guarantee! They guarantee customer satisfaction or they will remove the system free of charge. They refused to do this for us. Now we are stuck with this system.

Most recently, we had a check done by another furnace company. Andy's Statewide forgot to adjust the L.P. pressure after converting the system from natural gas to propane. It has been running this way for a year without us knowing. They could not figure this problem out on their own even though we complained of significant increase in propane usage! Their workers are not properly trained. Watch out! Beware! Go with someone else!

Great but $$$

I've had separate visit from Andy's for HVAC repairs. Always fast to respond (nights and weekends), professional and honest but not the cheapest. If you need it fixed right and right now use these guys. If you can wait a day or 2 use the other guys that don't work evenings / weekends.
