Founded in 1942, the LifeShare Blood Centers is a nonprofit organization that supplies blood and components for various hospitals throughout the south-central United States. The organization serves more than 2 million people through over 80 hospitals throughout Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. Its centers offer medical, technical and consulting services for physicians, hospital staff and other health care professionals. The organization conducts the LifeScholars program, which provides recognition to students who are regular blood donors. It operates centers that also offer therapeutic, patient care, and immunohematology reference consultation and compatibility testing services. LifeShare's clients include Allen Parish Hospital, Jennings American Legion Hospital and Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
