Working with Carl Forestieri (CF Group, CFCM and First Call Home Repair) was by far the worst experience I've had as a homeowner. He was incompetent, unreliable, unprofessional, abusive, and duplicitous. Several contractors have looked at the disaster in my kitchen, all of whom described his work as “shameful.” I now have to pay other contractors to fix his mess.
A partial list of the problems with his kitchen install: the wall cabinets are extremely crooked; sharp nails and holes through the tops; he cracked the bottoms of cabinets; the back splash is unfinished – he left gaping holes through the wallboard above it, and the grout is falling out; the floor is unevenly tiled and poorly grouted; the light rail is smeared with dirty caulk and incorrectly installed; few if any of the corners match up; etc.
He was very difficult to deal with and was prone to fits of yelling and crying. After one particularly fraught outburst, I took my daughter and left my house. When I returned hours later his assistant Kurt said, “we thought you'd be afraid to come back.” Another time when asked about Carl’s refusal to fix something he admitted was wrong, Kurt said, “He’s trying to get as much money out of you as possible.” I felt unsafe and uncomfortable having Carl Forestieri in my home and near my family.
Carl talks a good line, and I fell for it. He'll walk in and brag about his experience and degrees. He has an engineering degree - what use is that if you can't hang a cabinet level or miter a corner. He also has an MBA. One would think that with an MBA planning for payroll and managing a small crew would be no problem. Not so! They rarely showed up as promised, often without the right tools. Thursdays were met with Carl in hysterics stomping through my house shouting that he could not make payroll. Often this was after “overhearing” that Kurt couldn't pay his car insurance or that his electricity was cut off, etc.
