As someone who works in an auto parts store, this happens quite often. Its unfortunate that it does but honestly you can't get around it. The computer showed that they had it which 99% of the time is right. Every now and then a part will show in inventory and not be there for many reasons. The countermen can't physically put their hands on every single part because of the volume of calls and customers in a day so we have to trust the computer. This is not a problem with NAPA specifically as it happens in every parts store. Probably happens to me 2-3 times a month. Cut them some slack man

On 10/8/14 I called this NAPA location inquiring about a brake fluid reservoir cap. I was informed by a pleasant female employee that the cap was in stock and would be available for me to pick up. When I stopped by to pick up the cap, I stood waiting 15 minutes (not an exaggeration) while another employee fumbled in the back looking for the part. After my 15 minute wait I was informed that “the part shows it is in stock but I can’t put my hands on it right now.” What does that even mean? Is it in stock or not in stock? Now I’ve wasted 15 minutes of my time, a phone call, and my gas to drive out of my way for this part and the only remedy I’m given is that he can order the part for me and possibly have it tomorrow. Excuse me! I called ahead and you said you had it in stock today. I typically don’t leave feedback about shopping experiences, but lately it seems that this sort of buffoonery is running rampant in my local community. This was my first and last time going to this NAPA auto parts or any NAPA nonetheless. It is evident that this company does not care about its customers so the intent of this comment is not to implore this company to improve its customer service skills, nor is it to seek any kind of remedy. The intent of this comment is save someone else from wasting their time like I was forced to.
