James Hamilton, MS, is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) who cares for people with orthopedic injuries and conditions, including those with arthritis of the hip and knee and people with failed hip and knee and replacements. He assists in performing a variety of procedures, including hip replacement, hip resurfacing, total and partial knee replacement, and revision arthroplasty of the hip and knee. Mr. Hamilton also works with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that fulfill their physical activity and lifestyle goals.Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Mr. Hamilton served as a surgical first assistant in orthopedic, general surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology care. His research interests include postoperative pain management and customized, patient-specific total knee replacements.Mr. Hamilton earned a masters degree from University of New England and a bachelors degree in history from California State University San Marcos. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the California Academy of Physician Assistants.Mr. Hamilton is a native San Diegan and veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
