I am new to Knoxville and a friend referred me to Speedy Transmission for some work on my vehicle. I could not be more pleased with the level of service I received. I have never encountered a more honest and friendly auto service. The work was completed very quickly and the price was more than fair. I will not take my vehicle to anyone else from now on!

I'd been having some problems with my Acura TL. As it got more noticeable, I went to my local Firestone dealership in Farragut. They thought it was more than likely a transmission problem and referred me to Speedy Transmission at 418 S. Northshore Dr. Calvin and his office staff seemed very knowledgeable and very personable. He road tested my car and then suggested I leave it overnight so he could run his diagnostic equipment on a cold engine the next morning. I was able to go on home in an old , but very clean, loaner vehicle. The following morning, I returned to pick up my car and wondering what kind of expenses I should expect. Calvin said he could not find anything wrong and suggested I go to the Acura dealership if the slight problem I was having proceeded to get worst. I was happy with the outcome, and was very surprised when he told me "no charge"! There was no charge for the nice loaner vehicle [except to replace the gas I used] and the diagnostic testing was free as well. Since I have very limited knowledge about car problems, he could have so easily charged me for something I didn't need. How refreshing to find a mechanic so honest ! I will certainly recommend his shop to my family and friends! Thanks Calvin! Louise Kinser

Speedy Transmission worked on my leaking '87 Mercedes 300D. Calvin and the team were absolutely professional and helpful from the first discussion through to the time we picked up the car. Calvin was very courteous and helpful then entire time. Speedy Transmission provided me a loaner car to use while my car was down for repairs. An unexpected, required repair came up and Calvin handled it quickly while providing all the details I needed to make an informed decision. I highly recommend Speedy Transmission due to their professionalism, their capabilities and their fair pricing.

Before coming here I was about to sink $1,800 on a transmission rebuild that I was told that I needed by several transmission shops. They looked at my car and said that I only needed to fix a switch. I had the swtich replaced (which was less than $100.00) and everything is fine. Thanks for all their honesty. I would definetly recommend and use this shop for any further repairs. Thanks!!!!!!!

After being told by a national oil change franchise that I needed about $600 worth of work on my oil gaskets, I took my vehicle to Speedy Transmission and they did a free inspection. They took pictures of the problem, showed them to me, and even took me back so I could see the problem for myself. The problem ended up being a leaky O-Ring that was connected to a hydraulic tensioner. Calvin went out of his way to research the problem and when he realized his shop did not have the proper equipment, he sent me to another fair and honest person that could fix it. Calvin and the employees at Speedy Transmission are fair and honest. They will not sell you what you do not need. This is the only place I will take my vehicles from now on.

Great Customer Service! I was recently told I needed to have my transmission (as well as my coolant) flushed/changed after an oil change. I called seven different shops, including the dealer, for prices and each told me that it needed to be done and it would be $150+. However, when I called Speedy Transmission they immediately told me that they thought I might have a synthetic fluid in my transmission and that I didn't need to have it serviced at all (or at least not until 100k+ miles). The manager spent 7 1/2 minutes on the phone with me verifying his assumption and then explaining how my fluid would look different, how I didn't need the service, and how if I brought it by he would verify that was indeed the case and run a diagnostic on the transmission to check it AT NO CHARGE. It just so happens, that they were $30+ dollars cheaper on the coolant flush than any other shop as well. I was in and out within an hour. Simply put, they saved me a lot of money, were the only honest (and most knowledgeable) people I spoke with, and I couldn't be happier. The customer service there before and during my time in the shop is the best I have ever received at any automotive service center. I would highly recommend Speedy Transmission to all.

I was traveling and had some difficulties with my vehicle. I had called this transmission shop. They had me bring my car right in. Very Smooth Transaction! Reasonably Priced and Very Fast!!! Had my car finished in no time. They seem to care about their customers. I didn't feel like I was just a number. They are great there, I would recommend this shop to everyone -- CR

I trust this shop

I had my 2002 Maxima checked at 2 other shops that said it had to be completely rebuilt to fix it. A friend that had been to Speedy before said that I should get Calvin to check it first before commiting to anything. I was thrilled when he told me it was a minor repair and could be fixed without taking it apart. The car shifts fine now and I would recommend anyone to have them give you a second opinion...it sure saved me a ton of money.

they tried to rip me off

I'm a DIY mechanic all my life and had rebuilt transmissions before but when i went to do business with speedy here in Knoxville TN i was looking for somebody honest and they sounded like they would be. the guy there told me it would be 250 plus parts for a rebuild. I was on a short time table and had alot of other things to do before i left town. he told me that it would be 3 days total. it took 4 just to tell me that it was going to cost 1000! said all this stuff had to be replaced that i was pretty sure didnt have to be replaced and when i picked up my Transmission in pieces i saw right there that i was right and all of what he said was wrong (gears and syncros) were perfectly fine. after i laughed at him for telling me 1000 for the rebuild i told him that i had a line on a re-manufactured tranny for 700 and he called me a liar! Now not only did he lie to me about when he was going to get the estimate to me, three times, wasting my time, he then tried to pull the wool over my eyes about the problems. very dishonest and crooked looking for an extra buck in my opinion.

I just happened upon this review and wanted anyone that reads this to understand that there are always two sides to a story. This customer is "annonymous" so have no way to know that it's a real complaint and not just a competing transmission shop trying to nuetralize my advertising dollars. Sounds odd, I know, but this does happen. Assuming this is an actual customer, with a real complaint, my response is that there is no "rip off" as stated. Any carry-in unit (not in the car) has to be taken apart to determine the worn, broken or damaged parts inside, to give the customer the detailed parts list (and associated costs)that it will take to restore the unit back to factory specifications. This is called a Custom Rebuild and will include a parts and labor warranty. Our Master Certified Rebuilder is not a DIY'er and relies on many years of specialized training and experience, to rebuild a unit that will LAST. Any internal parts that he identified as needing replacement, would have been itemized, to the customer, by part number and price. The parts cost is set by the dealer, not us. They make the parts and we install. Once this process has been completed, it's the customers decision to repair or not, as it's his money and his car. If repairs are declined, which it seems was this case, we just box up the unit and hand it back to him. There is no rip off, crying or knashing of teeth involved. Sometimes, the parts that it will take to properly rebuild a unit can exceed the cost of a replacement unit. That is a rare occurence, but can happen. We don't call folks liars about it...no rational person would. Anyone that has worked with our shop knows that our operation is reliable and honest. Everything is itemized with no guess work and covered by a very strong parts and labor warranty. DIY'ers are more likely to reuse worn parts that should be replaced, even if not visibly broken, can be worn beyond the factory wear tolerence limits and need to be replaced to avoid future problems.
