The people at Butler Animal Clinic are the best! They have reasonable pricing and care for the animals like their own. We love the care and expertice that Dr. Patterson has in treating our German Shepherd, Scout.

I have always heard good things and bad things about Butler Animal Clinic. I actually got to experience how they were first hand yesterday(September 21, 2016) afternoon. The veterinarian was not very friendly and didn't seem to believe me on my dogs issues. The office staff and vet techs are absolutely unprofessional. I wish I could give them no stars on professionalism. After our visit the vet said "I will meet you at the front desk." I walk up and no one acknowledge my presents for five minutes. Instead they were snap chatting and laughing while I am standing there trying to pay and get out of the office. Finally, the vet walks up and a lady(JDL) is what was on my invoice checks me out. I get home and realize they have my dogs DOB wrong on the invoice. It's not that big of a deal, but it's the little mistakes that make you realize that although they are cheaper, you get what you pay for and unfortunately, I got an unpleasant visit and will not return.

My family is so very upset with Dr Butler's Veterinarian Clinic where we took our cat Stoney Thursday, to get treated just to be released yesterday in no better, if not worse condition than when he went in and my wife found him passed away this morning. We will not take our dog to get spaded as we originally planned on doing, due to the incompetent they have shown with our cat. RIP Stoney.

If you need shots or simple t...

If you hate your animal take them here! Took my dog in because he was throwing up. They did a x-ray and they said he was clogged in his intestines. So of course we listen to the "vet" and say do what you have to do. After 2 days & $700 we pick him up. He was split wide open and everything taken out. Guess what it was? All he needed was a weeks worth of antibiotics, it was just an INFECTION! I talked to at least 4 other vets and they could NOT believe they didn't do blood work first! Just a simple blood test would have shown the infection and a week on antibiotics would have fixed him right up. I called the owner and he refused to help us any on there mistake. This place is very old school and dirty. Few months before got him fixed and they cut into a nerve. My poor dog couldn't lay down all night just crying. My dog hasn't been the same since...

I can not tell you enough how ...

I can not tell you enough how much I recommend this location for all your pets needs. I have seen 3 vets there, Dr. Mike, Dr Butler, and Dr. Elliott (think that was his name) who teaches at UT and does surgery at this office as well. My daughter accidentally dropped our schnauzer hurting his leg bad, the diagnose was a rare injury. THEY TOOK him from my HANDS in the parking lot and carried him themselves as they were waiting on me to bring him in for it was an EMERGENCY.....Dr. Elliott did the surgery and did an awesome job.I was so upset, I locked my keys in the car, and they even helped me with that when they did not have too!!!!!... These doctor's really care for the animals and the owners!!!, I live in Strawberry Plains, and gladly make the drive, they are worth it. The only problems I have ever had was with a new student/doctor, and it was not bad, he just did not prescribe a strong enough antibiotic to take care of the problem, I was not charged for the recheck!!! They're prices are very reasonable, and I find that very comforting considering that savings means you can take better care of your animals, and have more regular check-up. I love this office, doctors and staff as well. You could not ask for a better all around facility for the care of your Animal period. A 5 Star establishment hands down.....

The Butler Animal clinic is th...

The Butler Animal clinic is the best. The son followed in his father foot steps by taking his love for animals in his care for them.I can not believe someone has said they do not take emergencies. I have used this clinic often. I have gone to other clinics closer to my home. I have never found one that evens compares. Recently my poodle got a skin condition from what both clinic agree must have came from groomer. I told my poodle to a clinic close to home. They gave me medication and shampoo. He got a little better but then suddenly took a bad turn like he was going to die. I told him to Butler clinic. They changed his medication and shampoo gave him a shot and told me exactly what the condition was. My dog is now better. I have had sudden emergencies in the pass and they always told my animals and keep them and got them better. The person who said this is wrong or has some other unknown reason to make this up. thank you butler clinic you are great!

Very Good - But Limited Experience

I took my dogs to Dr. Mike @ Butler Animal Clinic for a second opinion on female dogs bladder/urinary infections. He suggested not testing free catches so frequently, especially without symptoms. He suggested placing her on Methionine to try to keep her pH in the correct range rather than fluctuating, and I followed his dosing recommendations. He also suggested a Glucosamine product as there was some evidence it helped in cats; just to give it a try. He also took new Xrays as prior vet would not give me the Xrays indicating she had bladder stones that may need flushing. He found NO evidence of bladder stones. She has done very well since then.

Their office is too long a driving time for me to use on regular basis, though I keep them as a backup.

I also purchase some products from them, even with prescription from my regular vet, and their costs are much lower. All their fees as a rule are much lower.

I don't have any other experiences such as surgery, etc to make any further judgments.

The front desk is usually very busy with in-house & phone customers, but have attended to my needs.

COMMENT: It bothers me greatly that one customer stated that Butler won't take your animal if an EMERGENCY occurs - especially if they are your regular vet. I would check into this if choosing Butler as your regular vet.

Thank you for your kind words concerning Dr. Mike Medicus. I am most concerned about your last statement as I am not sure I understand it. We do not turn emergencies away for any reason so I and especially if they are our regular clients. I am sorry if you were given incorrect information.
