Why I like Dean Wilson, D.V.M.

I have been going to Dr. Wilson since Companion opened about 20 years ago, I have probably had close to 15 cats brought to his surgery. More if you count a couple that I was bringing for people who were not physically able to bring their own cats, or strays I rescued and wanted to be put in optimal health to give them a better chance at being adopted.

Dr. Wilson has the diagnostic instincts of a detective. I have seen him examine a cat, mouth, ears, feel all around the body, pull on this, move that, squeeze over there, poke this and know what was wrong without putting the animal through a myriad of tests. On only two or three occasions was it necessary to get actual tests, other than when I brought in stool for flotation. One of those who needed tests did not belong to me and turned out to be suffering from cholangiohepatitis, a very complicated diagnosis. It reminds me of the old man that used to work on my 1950 Chevy, who would listen to the engine, maybe rev it, maybe smell it or touch it; then he would go get a screwdriver and adjust it and all was well.

Not only are his diagnostic skills superb, but he is a wizard with a scalpel. I recall the humane society complaining that, if Dr. Wilson had spayed an animal, they couldn't tell because the scar was too small to find.

I and my cats have been treated very kindly by Dr. Wilson. I liked him when he was a kid vet with sometimes very colorful hair, and still like him now that the hair is getting bare. He was a smart cookie then and still is. I am forever grateful to him.

A vet Clinic that met our needs and more and was reasonably cost

I went to Klamath Falls,Oregon, Companion Pet Clinic, I drove over 2 hrs, for a teeth cleaning. I have 5 doxies after a lot of research I found that one doxies could cost me 650 at the highest and the lowest was 250 with no teeth pulled to have their teeth clean. Comapion cost was 85 for a cleaning with a dog younger than 7 yrs. and 121.00 for a older dog needing a IV, and if they took out teeth it was 5 to 20 dollars a tooth. Their cost was the lowest and they help my Doxies way beyond what I am use to with our Vets around here. I have always like the Vets that are not Corp where money runs their business. First thing I noticed was that they were kind and friendly my Doxies were looked over for the dental evaluation for free, giving me a estimate. They have 3 vets and Dr. Bird was the one that worked on my doxies teeth. My two Doxies were treated and looked over by loving and concern techs and vets. I had met Dr. Wilson, (one of the other vets) with a friend that had a Doxie with a growth on its foot. He took the time to teach my friend what kind of growth and what choices he had. During the dental evaluation I ask about nail cutting when told the price I decided to wait till i got home deciding that teeth were my biggest concern at this time. I had explain to the front desk I was from out of town and my time constrains, I needed them evaluate and worked on in about three days so i could get back home, they set up my appointments so that I was able to get in and out. They also made sure they were release so that I could come home in daylight. They called me while they were working on Sowfee, they found that she was going to need more work, they explain and let me make the decision also letting me know the cost which was no more than 11.00 dollars more than the original estimate. The highest estimate that they gave me for both dogs was was 469.00 I came out paying 256.00 for both. They also took the time to clip their nails not charging me any more. I was so impress that I will be taking my other 3 to them for their cleaning. I found and felt that they were more into what was best for my doxies and not the mighty buck, today true to form with the treatment I saw from them, I received a wonderful card welcoming me and thanking me, and asking me to elevate them. I can only write from what happen with my sweeties but I would recommend them, to all my Doxie friends

I'LL NEVER TRUST ANYONE ELSE

I have been going to Doc Dean for many years,he's saved puppies when the neighbor "brought me parvo" to my 3 litters, one litter had one vaccination, two litters had second vaccinations,he went over an beyond caring ,we lost 2 puppies out of 9,I was blessed to have him fighting for our puppies lives! This is but one time Doc Dean(Wilson) has been there over 110% for all our pets,if he doesn't know,he will find out...heaven knows,in all the years we've known him,he has never let us down.Doc Mike, well, I knew him when he was a tech there, now a licensed veterinarian,I was delighted to have him return,I HAVE FULL TRUST IN THESE DOCTORS,both care about your pet as if they were their own fur kids,I will NOT trust another vet with our fur kid's care or health. We are honored to have Doc Dean and Doc Mike care for our pets/companions.All of our fur kids will go nowhere else, the staff there is so caring and compassionate,if I could use but three words to tell about the veterinarians at Compan

Dean Wilson is an excellent diagnostician and surgeon. I have had as many as 11 indoor cats at one time and he has been excellent with solving problems, usually without expensive tests. He does not talk down to the pet's guardian and tries to help those on low income by doing things that are less expensive. I would trust Dean with any cat.

don't bring your pet here

I had a yorkie that I thought was in labor and brought it down to companion pet clinic. They charged me 28 dollars without telling me what they were doing. Told me she was not showing signs of labor even when I said I can feel the contractions. She told me that is just the puppies moving around. I drove away with my dog and she started giving birth in the truck as I drove down the bypass. I called back and one of the ladies talked me through it, breaking the birth sack and stuff, she was very nice. Called back again once I got home to complain about what had happen and was told sorry that I am upset, good luck with the puppies and goodbye. I will not let the female doctor there treat any of my dogs ever again.
