The Law Offices of Patrick E. Richardson, A Professional Corporation is one of the oldest law firms in northeast Missouri, having been established in Green City, Sullivan County, Missouri in 1939 by Robert M. ( R. M.) Gifford upon his graduation from the University of Missouri School of Law. For most of the tenure of his practice, the office was located in the Farmer’s Bank of Green City building. Mr. Gifford served in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves and thereafter remained active in the Judge Advocates Generals Office. Mr. Gifford engaged in the general practice of law in Northeast and North Central Missouri and was the prosecuting attorney of Sullivan County for many years. He was also the city attorney and mayor of Green City and served in the Missouri House of Representatives. Mr. Gifford was active in the Missouri Bar Association and served several years as chair of the Economics of the Bar Committee.
