Here is another example of the horror of our healthcare system. My last blood test confirmed that I have type 2 Diabetes. My wife suggested that I make an appointment at the Kingston Diabetes Center of Health Alliance. When I arrive, Cindy greets me with forms to complete and explains the cost will be about $80. No worries. I spend an hour with a nurse who provides me with a test kit. Shows me how to use it. Explains the perils of Diabetes. And provides me with reading material. I have now been charged $465 by Health Alliance for the training which is readily available from so many Internet sources for FREE. Then Health Alliance added $150.84 for the kit which you can by for $10 anywhere. Furthermore, when I complained to Cindy, she told me this had to be a mistake and that she would call me the next day. Never happened! Thank God I can afford this surprise piece of coal this Christmas. But what if you can’t?
