We are Shipley people from way, way back, and this was our favorite location for years...they used to have the nicest man who seemed to be the manager. But now we don't see him there, and the donuts are NOT Shipley donuts. Our guess is that the cooking oil is (a) used too long before changing, (b) not hot enough, or (c) BOTH. But the end result is that the donuts are NOT DONE in the center -- they are heavy and doughy and gross. And the outside is fairly crisp, as it should be -- but GREASY in a way that just is not Shipley's quality. We have completely stopped visiting this location, and go instead to the almost ancient store at Fry and I-10, or to the one up north on Fry near Clay Rd. But neither is convenient, which has made other donut shops begin to seem attractive -- something we would never have believed. Someone please FIX this location! Newcomers to Houston (and there are zillions in this area) will get the wrong idea about Shipley donuts, and never become customers.
