Located in Kaplan, La., Kaplan Elementary School serves over 600 students in prekindergarten through fourth grade. The school has a staff of nearly 70 full-time certified teachers and paraprofessionals that includes guidance counselors, curriculum specialists, school nurses, reading intervention specialists, speech therapists, librarians, music teachers and physical education instructors. Kaplan Elementary School organizes a variety of extracurricular activities, such as jump rope day, dance jam, pumpkin carnival, field day and the Red Across America day. It maintains an accelerated readers program, which monitors and guides reading practices and helps students in improving reading abilities. Established in 1957, Kaplan Elementary School is administered by Vermilion Parish Public Schools, which operates more than 15 schools.
