I purchased a Caterpillar 297c from Vander Haag’s KC MO on 4-15-16. I was told it had 75% undercarriage, low hour, and ready to work. I checked it out and saw it needed axles. Vander Haag’s to the price of the axles off the asking price of the machine. Said they had used it for 2 years building their new store and that after the axles were replaced it would be ready to work. So I purchased the machine and took it to the caterpillar shop to get the axles fixed. While fixing the axles Caterpillar found that the left drive motor was failing because it had no oil and the gears were rusting motor cost $5100. The left track frame is cracked all the way through the rear axle housing, the idler wheel has a broken bolt axle and bearings are dry have not been greased. Vander Haag’s refuses to help the machine is worth half what I paid. I will have my Lawyer send them a letter when I get the final bill for repairs and hope they do the right thing for their customers. Will keep this updated.
