Dr. O’Callaghan attributes his parents as having the biggest influence in his life. They not only stressed hard work, but how important it is to have a positive and upbeat attitude - every day. Dr. O’Callaghan is also grateful to the many mentors he had throughout his residency and fellowship that helped influenced the way he practices medicine.Dr. O’Callaghan enjoys all aspects of his profession because the hand and upper extremity is how people interact with their world. He is fascinated by the intricate anatomy of the hand. He finds every day is filled with new and exciting challenges, and feels privileged to be able to help patients become more active and get back to the things they want to be doing.In his free time, Dr. O’Callaghan enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports and being outdoors. Recently, he volunteered with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand on a medical mission trip to Honduras, treating the underserved.Dr. O’Callaghan’s hand, wrist, and elbow special interests include fracture care, arthritis, joint replacement, sports injuries, and pediatric trauma and deformity.Our hands mold our most meaningful interactions with the world, and it is a privilege to help patients with hand and upper extremity ailments. When I am with a patient, I try to not just understand their condition but what it is holding them back from and their treatment goals. From there my job is to provide education and come together on a treatment plan. Whether it’s reassurance to having surgery, I am dedicated to providing top notch treatment to each and every patient.
