Dr. Berg believes that his 20 years of experience outside of the medical field before becoming a doctor provides him with a unique view on the relationship between doctor and patient. In addition, having experienced trauma and hospitalization firsthand, he can personally understand why patients experience frustration and have concerns about their care. That's why he finds it especially gratifying to see a smile on the face of a patient when a treatment plan has worked for them.Dr. Berg also feels that it is important to share information and provide care to local communities that do not currently have access to urology programs.In addition to spending free time with his family, he enjoys skiing, traveling and engaging in technical underwater cave and wreck diving in the Great Lakes.Patient care today must be multidisciplinary. In order to provide the best care possible, I believe the physician must understand the whole patient. That includes not only the direct medical issues, but also the economic and social aspects concerning the patient.
