Founded in 1927, Cambria County Association for the Blind and Handicapped is located in Johnstown, Pa. The center develops and supports an environment for persons with disabilities, which promotes vocational and employment training, independence, and community involvement through rehabilitation, recreation and low-vision services, and provides education for the prevention of blindness. It provides a wide range of vocational rehabilitation services, including vocational evaluation, personal work adjustment training, sheltered employment, and handicapped employment and placement. The association employs more than 250 persons with disabilities in different areas of manufacturing, such as mining, sewing, food service kits and sub-contract works. It employs caseworkers, who travel throughout Cambria County providing individuals with visual disabilities services, including low vision aids and appliances, safety items, community awareness and counseling to continue with their daily living activities.
