The Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home was opened in 2004 and is located in Jennings, La. The building site is located on a more than 40-acre tract that features a pond and various fruit trees. It is spread over an area of over 91,000 square feet and features an architecturally enhanced facility. The Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home provides housing accommodations for nearly 155 war veterans. The facility employs a work force of approximately 165 staff members that includes health care professionals. It organizes and supports a range of recreational events, such as watermelon parties, staff meetings, musical concerts, game shows, job fairs and birthday celebrations.
