If you do need to use a computer it may be possible to use a friend's or one at the library.RACS' MissionThe mission of the Jefferson City Rape & Abuse Crisis Service shall be to provide direct services to persons who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or stalking. Toward that end, shelter services are offered to provide physical safety and to facilitate services for those victims of abuse. Service AreaThe Jefferson City Rape & Abuse Crisis Service serves 9 Central Missouri counties providing shelter, court advocacy, counseling, 24 hour hotline, crisis intervention, support groups and case management to domestic and sexual abuse victims. These counties include Cole, Gasconade, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Morgan, Osage, Southern Boone and Southern Callaway.Emergency Shelter:The Rape and Abuse Crisis Service provides emergency shelter 24 hours a day for domestic violence and sexual assault victims and their children. The location of the shelter is confidential for safety reasons, and is monitored by security cameras. Food, clothing, toiletries, and other essentials are provided for victims, as well as referrals to other assistance agencies. Our goal is not to direct, but rather to encourage independence while providing support. All services are free and confidential, and are provided on a nondiscriminatory basis. Counseling:Counseling services, including individual and group counseling, are provided to any adult or child whose life has been impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and/ or stalking. Licensed professional counselors offer support and understanding of each individual's situation and assist clients in dealing with the impact of the violence in their lives. Counseling is available to individuals both within and outside of the shelter. Domestic Violence Support Group:Support groups are held each week to allow victims of domestic violence to share their stories, their concerns and their strengths and to learn that they aren't alone. For more information about our support group, call RACS. Hotline:Confidential hotline services are available 24 hours/day, aimed at empowering victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. providing them with emotional support, help in developing problem-solving skills, assistance with immediate crises and community and agency referrals. In addition, our hotline functions as a means of answering questions and accessing information concerning domestic violence and sexual assault. Advocacy:Advocates are available to provide crisis intervention and emotional support to victims through one-to-one contact, including accompaniment to hospitals, courts and law enforcement agencies. In addition, a victim advocate is available through the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney's Office to provide legal advocacy & assist in filing orders of protection in Cole County, & to provide support throughout court proceedings
