Dr. Dan Lavitt was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. While there, he graduated from Raytown South High School located in Raytown, Missouri. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Missouri – Columbia. During his time at the University, Dr. Lavitt competed in Track and Field for the Missouri Tigers. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1980. Following the completion of his Bachelor’s degree, Dr. Lavitt continued to compete in Track and Field for the United States National Team and the Pacific Coast Track Club. He was signed as a free agent wide receiver with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1982, where he participated part of the preseason. Dr. Lavitt returned to college in preparation for Dental School. In the fall of 1983, he attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry and graduated in 1987. Dr. Lavitt went on to complete his residency in Endodontics at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry. Dr. Lavitt and his wife, Catherine, moved and currently reside in Columbia, Missouri. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Lavitt became a Diplomate to the American Board of Endodontics in 1994. Additionally, he was inducted into the University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Hall of Fame and the Missouri Track and Field Coaches Hall of Fame. He is currently on the Endodontic Specialty Committee to the Missouri Dental Board; and a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, the Missouri Dental Association, Columbia Dental Society; the Jefferson City Dental Society. Furthermore, he has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry. Dr. Lavitt has lectured at the University of Nebraska, University of Missouri – Kansas City, the University of Iowa, the Northeast Dental Society, the Columbia Dental Society and the Jefferson City Dental Society on various topics in the field of Endodontics.
