The Lodge is a truly unique and charming historic property with a 120+ year legacy. We host guests and groups year round and offer a clean, quiet setting with private en suite rooms, friendly service with a focus on good food, and a laidback, family campground-style ambience. But what we lack in state of the art amenities, we make up for with an unbeatable location (proximity to Jay), above-average food and service, clean and comfortable rooms and beds, and an unique ambiance. The Woodshed Lodge was originally built to house timber workers in the early 1900’s, and under just three ownerships since, the Lodge has enjoyed a storied history of hosting skiers and hikers that prefer to stay somewhere with unique charm and character. Modern and luxurious, we are not. But what we lack in state of the art amenities, we make up for with an unbeatable location (proximity to Jay Peak), above-average food and service, clean and comfortable rooms and beds, and an unique ambiance. THE BUILDING Inside, you’ll be transported back in time thanks to the authentically rustic construction and ambiance. We have renovated many of the rooms and bathrooms bathrooms and now offer some basic modern amenities such as high-speed Wi-Fi, a hot tub, and keypad locks - yet the Lodge retains her unmatched historic charm. We have 6 rooms, 5 of which offer en suite, private bathrooms, and three of which (the XL suites) offer multiple-bed options (up to three beds, of various sizes). The common areas include 2 living/sitting rooms with book-share libraries, TV's, and high speed Wi-Fi access, as well as our especially charming dining/banquet room that you'll want to write home about. This room boasts a wood stove set on a hearth made from local river stones. The walls, floors, ceiling, and counter tops are made from local, reclaimed wooden beams. There is a collection of vintage wooden hand tools that are original to the property, as well as a collection of rare vintage skis. You'll find communal coffee and tea stations, a communal refrigerator for guest food & beverage, a sink, a microwave, and a hot plate. THE PROPERTY "Outside is where the magic happens". The Lodge is set amongst 25 acres of quiet woods, set up high and about a half mile off the road. We have over 10 acres of yard space, plus an adjoining 15 acres of untouched woods that are perfect for nature walks, bird watching, etc. Our guests enjoy a laid back, family-friendly setting with a campground vibe. Many nights you will find a few of the guests gathering together around our fire pit in the yard, fishing in the trout pond, or looking for frogs and salamanders in the stream with the kids. There is a stream running through the property which feeds the pond and serves up a beautiful background audio track. In our primary yard, there is deck with a 6-person hot tub. If you keep your eyes peeled (and sometimes even if you don't!), you're likely to spot some of our local residents from 'the neighborwood' - chipmunks, red squirrels, birds of prey, muskrats, foxes, skunks, and black bears. THE LOCATION The Woodshed Lodge is the closest independent lodging facility to Jay Peak Resort, just 3 miles and less than 5 minutes up the hill. We are only two minutes from the town of Jay, where you can find a grocery store, liquor store, family restaurant, sandwich/deli/cafe, gas station, ski shop, and gift shop.
