Founded in 1995, The Women's Center of Jacksonville is a nonprofit organization that helps women overcome social, economic and personal barriers. It serves more than 10,000 women and girls every year. The center offers individual and group psychotherapy, as well as couples and family counseling services. The Women's Center of Jacksonville provides counseling assistance with issues, such as family conflicts, depression, anxiety, stress, physical abuse and HIV/AIDS, as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues. It has a rape recovery team that responds to survivors of sexual violence. The team provides crisis intervention services, assists victims in understanding their rights and options, and offers support throughout the medical and criminal justice process. The center s community education department organizes health education classes, personal growth workshops and professional seminars on women's issues.
